    • Kyle Gibson gets win after allowing five runs
Kyle Gibson won Friday despite allowing five runs in six innings against the Red Sox.

Advice: Gibson had been on a roll of late, though he picked up just one win while amassing a 2.10 ERA in his previous five starts. This will help make up for that, as Gibson improved to 3-2 with a 4.09 ERA and a 32/17 K/BB in 36 innings. There’s no reason to expect him to perform any better going forward. • Masyn Winn collects first homer of 2024
Masyn Winn’s first homer of the season with was a two-run shot off Boston’s Cam Booser in Friday’s win.

Advice: Winn hit the ball 402 feet, which was far and away his longest drive of the season. He previously had a 379-foot double off Sean Manaya, but he hadn’t hit anything else over 350 feet in 142 plate appearances. Winn has been perfectly solid in batting .280/.343/.384 this year, but his profile doesn’t suggest that he’ll be hitting many more homers in his first full season. • Andrew Heaney gets pulled in fourth against Angels
Andrew Heaney was pulled after giving up three runs — two earned — in 3 2/3 innings Friday against the Angels.

Advice: Heaney will almost certainly be pushed into middle relief if the Rangers ever happen to get all of their starters healthy, but it’s not happening this month. Heaney currently has an 0-5 record in spite of a 4.43 ERA and a 44/11 K/BB ratio over 44 2/3 innings in nine starts. He’s been particularly unlucky in terms of run support, and the Rangers are 1-8 when he pitches, compared to 22-15 the rest of the time. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:12 pm

    • Willie Calhoun goes 4-for-5 against former team
Willie Calhoun went 4-for-5 with an RBI against the Rangers on Friday.

Advice: Calhoun’s combination of solid exit velocities and excellent strikeout rates has never paid much in the way of dividends, but when it was least expected, he’s popped off with a .365/.382/.577 line in 55 plate appearances for the Angels this season. With limited home run power and zero speed, he still doesn’t figure to be very useful for fantasy purposes going forward. However, he might remain a perfectly solid DH for the Angels. • Nolan Schanuel goes 0-for-6 from leadoff spot
Nolan Schanuel went 0-for-6 with three strikeouts from the leadoff spot Friday against the Angels.

Advice: We’re not sure what Schanuel is doing batting leadoff for the Angels at this point; yes, his approach is good, but he’s just not a major league hitter and he’s also a liability when he does reach base. It seems like the Angels ought to give Zach Neto an opportunity at the top of the order. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:12 pm
    • Homers in consecutive games
Beck went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-5 loss to the Giants.

Advice: Beck has now homered in back-to-back games, and he's gone 8-for-23 (.348) during a six-game hitting streak. The outfield prospect was known for his power in the minors, but it took a little time for him to click in the majors. He's now hitting .236 with two homers, seven RBI, four runs scored, a stolen base and two doubles over 55 plate appearances. Beck may be running out of time to make an impression with the Rockies, as Nolan Jones (back) started a rehab assignment Wednesday and could return soon. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:05 pm
    • Surrenders five runs in loss
Feltner (1-4) gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two over four-plus innings to take the loss Friday versus the Giants.

Advice: This is the fifth time in nine starts Feltner has allowed at least four runs. The Rockies got off to a good start, but the right-hander gave it all back when he was tagged for a three-run home run by Thairo Estrada in the fifth inning. Feltner is now at a 5.69 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 42:14 K:BB through 49 innings this season. Oddly enough, he's been slightly worse away from Coors Field in 2024, but his next start is projected to be at Oakland. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:01 pm
    • Five RBI in win
Matos went 3-for-5 with two doubles and five RBI in Friday's 10-5 win over the Rockies.

Advice: Matos enjoyed one of the best games of his career, driving in at least a run with each of his hits. He added an RBI on a groundout in the seventh inning as well. The 22-year-old is hitting .333 (7-for-21) with 11 RBI and three extra-base hits over his first six contests this season. With Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) out for the year, Matos has a golden opportunity to claim a full-time major-league job if he can keep hitting well. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:48 pm

    • Logs three hits, steal in win
Chapman went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a hit-by-pitch, one RBI, one stolen base and three runs scored in Friday's 10-5 win over the Rockies.

Advice: Chapman has gone 9-for-32 (.281) over his last eight games as he finally seems to be finding a rhythm at the plate. He got the Giants on the board with an RBI double in the first inning and continued to be involved in the team's subsequent rallies. The third baseman is slashing .218/.273/.362 with five home runs, 10 doubles, 20 RBI, 25 runs scored and four steals through 187 plate appearances this season. While his rate stats are well below his usual standard, the recent improvements are a reason for optimism, especially as he continues to hit in the heart of the order for a lineup devastated by injuries.
