Advice: The 28-year-old slugger took Brayan Bello deep in the fifth inning, breaking a 1-1 tie and giving Sheets the first grand slam of his career. He's gone yard in back-to-back games and has four of his seven homers this season in the last 11 contests, a stretch in which Sheets is batting .282 (11-for-39) with 10 RBI. Swats first homer of 2024Dalbec went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 6-1 loss to the White Sox.
Advice: Getting the start in right field and batting seventh, the 28-year-old took Nick Nastrini deep in the fifth inning for Boston's only offense, and Dalbec's first long ball in the majors this season. He's flashed plenty of power in the minors -- in his last 140 games for Triple-A Worcester, he's slugged 41 homers -- but that hasn't yet translated to the game's highest level with any consistency. He'll lose playing time, and likely his spot on the 26-man roster, when players like Tyler O'Neill (knee), Wilyer Abreu (ankle) and Masataka Yoshida (thumb) are back in action, as Dalbec's .159/.243/.238 slash line in 28 games for the Red Sox makes a poor case to keep him around. Advice: Dalbec’s home run was his first since last September. He hit 25 home runs in 133 games in 2021, but has had a rough go of it ever since while splitting time between MLB and Triple-A. Last year, Dalbec played first base, second base, third base and shortstop for Boston. He was in right field for the Red Sox on Saturday afternoon with Tyler O’Neill out. Dalbec’s hitting .159 in 28 games this year, though he’s reached base safely in eight of his last nine starts. Advice: The 29-year-old slugger took Simeon Woods Richardson deep in the seventh inning to produce the game's first run, then was at the heart of a three-run rally in the eighth. Tellez hadn't homered since March 31, and Saturday's blast snapped a 48-game power drought in which he slashed just .197/.262/.235 with five doubles. Rowdy Tellez homers, drives in three vs. TwinsRowdy Tellez went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and three RBI to lead the Pirates to a 4-0 win over the Twins on Saturday.
Advice: Tellez broke a scoreless game in the seventh inning with a solo blast off Simeon Woods-Richardson to give the Pirates the lead. He then drove in two runs with a base hit in the eighth, bringing three of the Pirates’ four runs in to score. The home run was just the second home run of the season for the 29-year-old first baseman. He’s slashed a disappointing .208/.268/.285 with 15 RBI across 157 plate appearances. Slated for rehab stint next weekDrury (hamstring) has responded well to recent baseball activities and is likely to head out on a rehab assignment during the week of June 10, per MLB.com.
Advice: Drury hasn't played since injuring his left hamstring May 8, but he recently progressed to running and participating in full baseball activities, including taking groundballs and hitting on the field. The veteran infielder hasn't had any setbacks while taking part in that work and thus appears just about ready to head out on a rehab stint.
