    • Locked into rotation spot
Perez has allowed one earned run across 12 innings with a 13:4 K:BB in Grapefruit League action.

Advice: There are a couple of vacancies in the back of the Pirates' rotation, but Perez will be locked in as a starter to begin the regular season. He built up to five innings in an outing against the Philies on Monday, racking up eight strikeouts against two walks without allowing a run. Despite the strong form, there should be some skepticism about Perez's performance, as he's posted an ERA above 4.40 in six of his last seven campaigns. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:25 pm
    • Christian Walker knocks in a run against Athletics
Christian Walker went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Monday’s game against the Athletics.

Advice: This was Walker’s first multi-hit game of spring camp and he now has a hit in five of his past seven games. The 32-year-old dealt with a right hand injury earlier in camp, but fantasy managers should have no concerns if they plan to take the veteran in drafts this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:45 pm
    • Martín Pérez strikes out eight in beating Phillies
Martín Pérez surrendered a pair of unearned runs and struck out eight Monday in a win over a Phillies split-squad.

Advice: Pérez never once struck out eight batters last season. Interestingly, his velocity was well off today, as he averaged just 89.7 mph with his sinker, down 1.9 mph from last year, and 85.9 mph with his cutter, down 3.3 mph from last year. Obviously, he was effective anyway, and he’s had a great spring in allowing one earned run in 12 innings. We still wouldn’t go drafting him in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:24 pm
    • Jake Burger crushes first spring homer in win
Jake Burger hit his first spring homer off Josh Hader as the Marlins edged an Astros split-squad 6-5 on Monday.

Advice: It was a 432-foot shot. Burger is just 5-for-36 with a 13/1 K/BB this spring, but he’s no longer in a situation in which he has to worry about playing time. He might spend a fair amount of time DHing, but he’ll be a lineup fixture for the Marlins after his 34-homer campaign last year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:46 pm
    • Judge likely to play in 4 of final 6 spring games
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Aaron Judge will likely play in four of the final six Spring Training games.

Advice: Boone said Judge should be good to go for Wednesday’s game, but it’s all talk until we see the former AL MVP back on the field. The 31-year-old has been dealing with an oblique injury that has kept him sidelined from camp. The fact that the team’s manager is saying he’s going to be playing in a majority of the team’s final games is encouraging, but if he’s not 100% healthy we shouldn’t expect him to push it in Spring Training. • Boone: Judge “should be good to go” on Wednesday
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Aaron Judge “should be good to go” and return to the lineup on Wednesday

Advice: We’ll believe it when we see it. Judge was supposed to return from his oblique/ab injury on Saturday and then also on Monday, and now he is set to return on Wednesday. We’re a bit skeptical that the big outfielder is as close to returning and as close to full health as the Yankees continue to say he is. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:36 am

    • Projected to play Wednesday
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday that Judge (abdomen) "should be good to go" for Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates following Tuesday's team off day, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Boone had previously projected Judge to rejoin the spring lineup this past Saturday, only for the Yankees to push back the slugger's return. With that in mind, Judge's status will still warrant monitoring Wednesday to ensure he is in fact playing against Pittsburgh. Judge has been slowed by the abdominal issue for nearly a week, but on a positive note, he was able to take part in some hitting work after an MRI returned negative. He took on-field batting practice Friday and Saturday, then hit off a tee and pitching machine Sunday. Judge didn't resume taking BP on Monday as expected, though he was spotted taking part in outfield drills. Boone's comments would seem to suggest that Judge's absence from batting practice Monday was merely just a late change of plans rather than the result of the 31-year-old experiencing any sort of setback during his recent workouts. • Cruising in spring
Bieber has allowed three runs on five hits and six walks while striking out 12 over 11.1 innings across three Cactus League starts.

Advice: Bieber racked up eight of those strikeouts over 5.2 innings Sunday versus the Reds. After dealing with elbow inflammation in 2023, the right-hander had no restrictions entering spring training and has delivered strong results. Nothing's set in stone yet, but it's likely Bieber will make one more spring start and figures to be in contention for the Opening Day start March 28 versus the Athletics. • Aaron Judge’s return delayed - again
Aaron Judge did not hit on the field on Monday, as he was scheduled to do.

Advice: So far the Yankees have said Judge was removed from a game after a pre-arranged two at-bats. That was not true. They have said Judge would hit on the field on Saturday, which he didn’t do. They then said he would hit on the field on Monday, which he did not do. Judge has been swinging off a tee and was doing outfield drills early on Monday, so he’s still preparing for the start of the season, but the lack of a clear timeline for his return and the vague responses from the Yankees are beginning to get a bit troubling for a player who has dealt with injuries in the past. Considering the team had already said Judge would have to manage his toe injury all season, the risks are beginning to mount for Judge if you’re planning to take him in the early part of the first round of fantasy drafts.
