    • Miles Mikolas falls apart in fifth inning
      Miles Mikolas surrendered six runs over four-plus innings in a loss to the Mets on Tuesday.

      Advice: Mikolas cruised through the first four innings before the Mets jumped all over him for six hits and six earned runs to chase him before recording an out in the fifth.     • Alex Verdugo drives in four in win over Astros
      Alex Verdugo went 3-for-5 with a homer and four RBI in a 10-3 win over the Astros on Tuesday.

      Advice: The home run was Verdugo’s fifth on the season and he now has 17 RBI. The big fly wasn’t a Yankee Stadium blast either, with Verdugo hitting it 383 feet at 107.4 mph off the bat. While many expected a power boost for Verdugo moving to Yankee Stadium, he has just a 3.8 percent barrel rate and his lowest fly ball rate since 2021. His HR/FB rate is up, so Verdugo could easily surpass his 13 home runs from last year, but he’s unlikely to see a major surge. Still, his walk rate is the highest it’s ever been and he’s slashing .275/.362/.450 on the season, which will give him fantasy value if he keeps hitting cleanup behind Juan Soto and Aaron Judge.     • Rutschman extends hit streak to five in loss
      Adley Rutschman went 1-for-4 in the Orioles’ 3-0 loss to the Nationals on Tuesday.

      Advice: Offense was hard to come by for the Orioles in this one, as Rutschman’s hit was one of just three the Birds recorded on the evening. The real story of the night was the Nationals pitching, as starter Trevor Williams struck out eight batters over five innings while the bullpen notched four more K’s.       Soler (shoulder) isn't in the Giants' lineup for Tuesday's game against Colorado, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

      Advice: Although Soler's shoulder injury has now kept him out of the lineup for three consecutive games, the Giants have not said anything that would suggest a future move to the IL for the 32-year-old slugger.       Eovaldi (groin) was seen playing catch ahead of Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

      Advice: Manager Bruce Bochy provided a positive update Monday with news that the right-hander isn't dealing with a sports hernia, and Eovaldi is back to playing catch a day later. Barring any sort of setback, the 34-year-old could be good to go without needing a rehab assignment once he clears the 15-day IL on May 18.       Corey Seager hit a three-run homer in the eighth to lead the Rangers past the A’s 4-2 on Monday.

      Advice: The Rangers were still scoreless until Seager took Lucas Erceg deep in the eighth. They then added an insurance run in the ninth. The homer was Seager’s third in 33 games this season.     • Turns tide with three-run homer
      Seager went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run Monday in a 4-2 victory against Oakland.

      Advice: Texas was down 2-0 heading into the eighth frame before Seager turned the team's fortunes around with a two-out, three-run blast to center field. It was a much-needed big moment for the star shortstop, as he came into the contest batting just .190 in May and .228 overall on the season. After slugging 33 homers and driving in 96 runs last year, Seager has just three homers and 13 RBI through 33 games in 2024.       Yu Darvish tossed five shutout innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

      Advice: Darvish has reeled off 10 consecutive scoreless frames in a pair of starts since returning from a two-week absence due to neck tightness. The 37-year-old veteran righty finished with five strikeouts, and only issued one walk, scattering three hits over five frames in his return to Wrigley Field. He generated 15 swinging strikes and finished with a respectable 28 percent CSW, despite throwing 62 of 83 pitches for strikes. He’ll bring a strong 2.94 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 30/11 K/BB ratio across 33 2/3 innings (seven starts) into a challenging matchup on Sunday against the division-rival Dodgers.
