      Advice: Seager delivered the Rangers' lone run with a single in the third inning. He's been mired in a slump and entered Friday's game batting .073 (3-for-41) with two RBI over the previous 11 games. Rangers general manager took the long view when speaking with Kenndi Landry of MLB.com, indicating the club expected Seager to need some time to get going after undergoing hernia surgery in January.       Ronald Acuña hit a solo homer while going 2-for-5 in an extra-inning loss to the Dodgers on Friday.

      Advice: Acuña Jr. hasn’t shown a ton of power in the early portion of the season, but he came through in a big way with a game-tying homer in the eighth off Daniel Hudson in the eighth. That’s just the second roundtripper of the season for the reigning MVP, but it’s hard to fathom the power isn’t going to come from a player that swatted 41 homers in 2023.       Rafael Devers doubled twice, drove in Boston’s only two runs and walked Friday against the Twins.

      Quintana (1-3) took the loss Friday as the Mets were downed 10-8 by Tampa Bay, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits and a walk over 2.2 innings. He struck out two.

      Advice: The veteran lefty managed to keep the ball in the park, but after a scoreless first inning, Quintana got pecked to death by a barrage of singles and doubles in his shortest outing of the season. The rough performance tacked more than a run onto his ERA, and Quintana will carry a 5.20 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 25:16 K:BB through 36.1 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in St. Louis.       Advice: Seager drove in the first — and only — run of the night with an RBI single off Brady Singer in the third. Seager has not gotten off to a strong start to the 2024 campaign, as the pair of knocks still has his average at a disappointing .229 with an equally disappointing .297 slugging percentage.     • José Quintana gets obliterated in loss to Rays
      José Quintana was absolutely obliterated in Friday night’s loss to the Rays, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits in just 2 2/3 innings of work.

      Advice: Woof. The 35-year-old left-hander also walked a batter while striking out two in the abbreviated outing. The Rays got to him early and often in this one, pushing three runs across in the second inning and adding five more while chasing Quintana in the third inning. Quintana got eight swings and misses on 65 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 22 percent.       Manager Alex Cora said Friday that Yoshida will get a second opinion on his strained left thumb, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

      Advice: Cora previously said Thursday that Yoshida may need to undergo surgery on his thumb after straining it during Sunday's win over the Cubs, but the 30-year-old will wait to hear from another doctor before determining the best course of action. Yoshida has slashed .275/.348/.388 with 11 RBI across 89 plate appearances this season, and an update on his status should be available within the next several days.       Mike Trout underwent successful surgery on Friday to repair the meniscus tear in his left knee.

      Advice: Officially, Trout underwent a partial medial meniscectomy. While there’s still no official timetable for his return, the Angels remain optimistic that he’ll be able to return to the lineup at some point during the 2024 season. Unfortunately, that leaves fantasy managers in leagues without injured list spots having to carry a zero on the bench for an indefinite amount of time, or risk the pain of throwing him back into the free agent pool and not being able to reacquire him when/if he does return.
