      Advice: Mervis was called up to the majors on April 23 after a strong start in Triple-A, slashing .288/.402/.606 with six doubles, five home runs and 13 RBI over 82 plate appearances with Iowa. That hasn't translated to the big club, as he's gone 3-for-26 with three RBI and eight strikeouts over nine games. Manager Craig Counsell noted that Mervis needs to go "back to the drawing board" in Triple-A, per Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune.       Blanco allowed three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out six during the win over Seattle.

      Advice: All the damage against Blanco came via the long ball, with Jorge Polanco going deep in the third inning followed by Dylan Moore in the fifth. Entering Friday's start, Blanco had given up just two homers through 32.2 frames. It was the first time this season he's allowed more than two runs in an outing but he did produce his fifth quality start. Blanco owns a terrific 2.09 ERA with a 36:16 K:BB.       Advice: Julien was stuck in an 0-for-11 drought since his last hit April 27. The lefty slugger drove in a run with a third-inning single before drawing a bases-loaded walk in the seventh.       Ronel Blanco was charged for three runs over six innings Friday in a no-decision against the Mariners.

      Advice: He gave up five hits while walking three and striking out six. Blanco gave up a pair of homers Friday, one of them being a solo shot by Jorge Polanco and the other a two-run homer by Dylan Moore. The right-hander exited with a 3-1 deficit, but the Astros were able to score four after he left to keep him off the hook.       Murphy (oblique) began hitting off the tee during Atlanta's most recent series against Seattle earlier this week, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

      Advice: It's the first time Murphy has swung the bat since landing on the 10-day IL on March 30 with a Grade 1 left oblique strain. Prior to the series in Seattle, Murphy was limited to light throwing and catching work in the bullpen.       Twins’ manager Rocco Baldelli told reporters on Friday that Royce Lewis (quad) has been progressing nicely in his recovery and has increased baseball activities in recent days.

      Advice: He’s now entering the fifth week of his recovery from a severe right quad strain and is tracking towards meeting that initial eight-week estimate that he was given when he sustained the injury.
