    • Tallies three hits Monday
Merrill went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI in Monday's 6-1 victory over the Athletics.

Advice: The bottom third of San Diego's order produced half of the team's 10 hits, with Merrill's three knocks leading the way. The exciting young outfielder extended his current hitting streak to six games, and he's batting .391 (9-for-23) over that stretch. Merrill is holding his own in his rookie campaign, slashing .281/.316/.367 with three homers, 24 RBI, 26 runs and nine stolen bases through 236 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:56 pm

    • Logan Gilbert gets no-decision after quality start
Logan Gilbert was left with a no-decision Monday after allowing three runs in 6 2/3 innings against the White Sox.

Advice: Gilbert struck out eight and walked none. The Mariners have struggled mightily to score runs while Gilbert is in the game, but they did score eight after he left to win tonight. Gilbert is just 3-4 in spite of a 3.19 ERA and an 84/20 K/BB in 90 1/3 innings. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:44 pm

    • Fans eight in no-decision
Gilbert allowed three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Monday.

Advice: Gilbert got through five scoreless frames before Luis Robert tagged him for a two-run homer in the sixth. The righty hurler returned for the seventh and gave up another run on a pair of hits before being pulled with two outs. Though he faded over his final two innings, Gilbert tied his second-highest strikeout total of the campaign and finished with his fifth quality start over his past six outings. However, he hasn't earned any victories over that stretch despite posting a solid 3.52 ERA. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:51 pm

    • Verdugo has two-hit game Monday
Alex Verdugo went 2-for-4 with an RBI against the Royals on Monday.

Advice: Verdugo’s RBI was his 35th of the season. He’s hitting .265 with a .753 OPS on the year. Verdugo batted fourth with Aaron Judge out of the lineup, though he regularly hits in the middle of the order. He’s been a solid but unspectacular contributor for New York this year. • Suffers first loss since April
Lugo (9-2) took the loss to the Yankees on Monday, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts over seven innings.

Advice: Lugo had two rough innings, surrendering three hits and two runs in both the first and fourth frames. While all eight hits allowed in the game were singles, he only generated seven swinging strikes on 101 pitches. Lugo has now given up nine runs combined in two June starts after only yielding nine in the entire month of May, but his opponents in those two outings currently rank second and seventh in runs scored this season. Lugo still owns a 2.36 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 75:20 K:BB in 14 starts and lines up against the Dodgers, who rank fourth in runs scored in 2024, on Saturday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:05 pm

    • Lugo allows four in loss to Yankees Monday
Seth Lugo allowed four runs in seven innings and took the loss against the Yankees on Monday.

Advice: Lugo gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out four. His ERA is now 2.36 on the season. Lugo’s xFIP is much higher at 3.93 and we might be approaching a conversation about what realistic expectations look like for Lugo the rest of the way. He continues to eat innings, but it’s worth noting that before last season when he made a career-high 26 starts, he was primarily used as a reliever throughout his career. The 34-year-old right-hander is set to face the Dodgers on the road this weekend.

    • Correa has another two-hit game Monday
Carlos Correa went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI against the Rockies on Monday.

Advice: Correa is up to .270 with 27 RBI on the season. Not bad considering he already dealt with an oblique injury this season. Correa isn’t going to regain his All-Star form from his days with the Astros. He’s also not going to hit more than 20 home runs or steal any bases, but he’s quietly having a nice season by any reasonable measure. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:18 pm

    • Anthony Rizzo remains on bench versus Royals
Anthony Rizzo is on the bench again Monday for the series opener against the Royals.

Advice: The Yankees have opted for DJ LeMahieu at first and Oswaldo Cabrera at third for a second straight game tonight. They also could use Cabrera in right field tonight with Juan Soto DHing and Aaron Judge sitting, but they opted to give Jahmai Jones a very rare start in that spot. • Held out again Monday
Rizzo is absent from the lineup for Monday's game in Kansas City.

Advice: Yankees manager Aaron Boone had indicated the struggling Rizzo would receive a second straight day off, and that's exactly what will happen. Rizzo has just one hit over his last 29 at-bats. DJ LeMahieu will handle first base Monday while Oswaldo Cabrera plays third base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:29 pm
