    • Clubs homer in loss
Devers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday in a loss to the Rays.

Advice: Devers' sixth-inning solo shot brought Boston to within a run, but it ended up being the final tally for either team. The long ball extended the third baseman's on-base streak to nine contests, and he's hitting .270 with two homers, five RBI and five runs over that stretch. On a less positive note, Devers has struck out at least once in 12 straight games, and his 24.1 percent strikeout rate is on pace to be his worst mark since the abbreviated 2020 campaign. • Swats second homer
Martinez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Martinez went deep in the eighth inning, launching a 403-foot solo shot off Spencer Turnbull. It was the veteran slugger's second long ball of the campaign, both of which have come over is past five games. Martinez is batting .350 (7-for-20) with four RBI over that stretch. • Joe Musgrove (triceps) could start on Sunday
Joe Musgrove (triceps) is hopeful he’ll return from the injured list to start on Sunday against the Braves.

Advice: That’s certainly surprising. Musgrove landed on the injured list on May 5 due to triceps tendinitis and hasn’t really done much except play catch since then. You would think that he would need to ramp back up a bit and require a minor league rehab start before jumping right back into the swing of things — and perhaps he may — but this sounds like he’s much closer to a return than most had anticipated. • Rafael Devers homers in loss to Rays
Rafael Devers went 1-for-4 with a solo shot on Wednesday.

Advice: The home run was Devers’ fifth of the season and cut the Rays’ lead to one run late. He also had a 108.6 MPH groundout in the eighth inning. He’s been his usual, excellent self this season slashing .281/.383/.871 through 32 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:20 pm
    • J.D. Martinez goes 2-for-4 with home run
J.D. Martinez stayed hot with his second homer and fourth extra-base hit in five games for the Mets on Wednesday in their loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Martinez has shrugged off a sluggish start to his season. He’s hitting .350 since last Saturday with his six hardest balls of the season coming in that span. The Mets’ offense is scuffling now, but Martinez should have plenty of run producing opportunities this season hitting behind Brandon Nimmo, Pete Alonso, and Francisco Lindor. • Gets little help in loss
Corbin (1-4) took the loss Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings as the Nationals were downed 2-0 by the White Sox. He failed to strike out a batter.

Advice: The veteran southpaw wasn't fooling anyone as he managed only five swinging strikes on 82 pitches, but Corbin was able to minimize the damage against him, coming one out short of his second quality start of the season. He'll take a 5.59 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 29:18 K:BB through 48.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Twins. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:48 pm
    • Eyeing Sunday return
Musgrove (elbow) could return from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's game in Atlanta, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Dylan Cease is available to pitch Sunday on his normal four days' rest, but the Padres appear to be leaving the door open for Musgrove to return Sunday if he comes out of his bullpen session Wednesday no worse for the wear. Randy Vasquez has stepped in to fill the vacancy in the rotation since Musgrove was placed on the IL on May 5 with elbow inflammation. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:35 pm

    • Done in by long ball
Perez (1-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Brewers, allowing nine runs on 11 hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: All nine of Milwaukee's runs against Perez came via home run -- the left-hander gave up a career-high five long balls after not allowing more than one in any of his first eight starts this year. It was a brutal day for the veteran left-hander, whose ERA is up to 4.86 with a 1.50 WHIP and 40:14 K:BB through 50 innings this season. Perez will look to get back on track in his next outing, currently slated for early next week at home versus San Francisco. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:20 pm

    • Walks off Toronto
Rutschman went 2-for-4 with a walk and a two-run homer in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: After Jordan Westburg led off the ninth with an infield hit, Rustchman launched a deep fly ball off Jordan Romano that just cleared the right-field fence, giving the Orioles a 3-2 walk-off victory. Rutschman's now homered in three straight games, totaling four long balls in that span. The 26-year-old backstop is slashing .314/.350/.509 with nine homers, 27 RBI and 24 runs scored through his first 40 games this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:20 pm
