    • Strikes out side for 10th save
Finnegan picked up the save over the Rangers on Wednesday, striking out the side in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: The right-hander took over in the bottom of the ninth with a 1-0 lead and ran right through the Rangers lineup, retiring all three batters on swinging strikeouts to secure his 10th save of the season, tying him with Ryan Helsley, Robert Suarez and Clay Holmes for the league lead. Finnegan has successfully converted each of his last nine save attempts and hasn't allowed a hit over his last eight appearances (spanning eight innings), posting a 9:1 K:BB over that stretch. Wednesday also marked his first time this season in which he struck out the side. Rotowire.com Thursday, 3:55 am

    • Kyle Finnegan strikes out the side for 10th save
Kyle Finnegan struck out the side in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save against the Rangers on Wednesday.

Advice: Finnegan was called on to close out the game with a one-run lead over the Rangers in the ninth inning. He shut the door on Texas, striking out the side on 13 pitches for his tenth save of the season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:27 pm

    • Ragans dominates TOR before leaving with cramp
Cole Ragans allowed one run on four hits over 6 2/3 innings in a win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Advice: Ragans was removed from the game in the seventh inning with a calf cramp, but he remained in the dugout and there seems to be no concern about his status going forward. The left-hander was effective on Sunday with nine strikeouts and three walks. He also posted a 28 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW thanks to a strong effort from both his four-seam and change-up. He now has a 3.44 ERA on the season and is a must-start every time out, including this weekend against the Brewers. Rotoworld Tuesday, 8:02 pm

    • Suffers calf cramp
Ragans left Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays due to a left calf cramp.

Advice: Ragans was removed from the game midway through the seventh inning and was later seen in the dugout after receiving minimal attention from the Royals' trainers, so his injury doesn't appear to be anything too severe. The team will likely continue to monitor his condition, but the 26-year-old lefty should be able to make his next start. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:20 pm

    • Cruises to ninth save
Finnegan walked one in a scoreless ninth to pick up the save during Sunday's 12-9 victory over the Marlins. He struck out one.

Advice: Finnegan needed 21 pitches to finish the game but kept Miami off the scoreboard to match the league lead with his ninth save in 10 opportunities. He lowered his ERA to 2.19 with a 0.97 WHIP and 11 strikeouts over 12.1 innings. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:55 pm

    • Kyle Finnegan locks down 9th save of season
Kyle Finnegan closed down the Nationals’ 12-9 win over the Marlins on Sunday.

Advice: It never seems to come easy for Finnegan, who also walked a hitter on Sunday and threw just 56 percent of his pitches for strikes. However, the Marlins weren’t able to mount much of a challenge and he now has a 2.19 ERA to go along with nine saves. Who knows how long it will last, but it’s hard to argue with the current production. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:44 pm

    • Picks up eighth save
Finnegan struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his eighth save of the season in a 3-1 win over the Marlins.

Advice: He needed only six pitches, all strikes, to dispatch the middle of Miami's order. Finnegan hasn't allowed an earned run yet in April, converting all seven of his save chances on the month with a 9:4 K:BB through 9.2 innings. Hunter Harvey, who collected his eighth hold Friday with a clean eighth inning, has been more dominant to begin the season and has a 19:2 K:BB through 13 innings. For now, though, Nats manager Dave Martinez is content to let him handle highest-leverage spots while Finnegan takes care of business in the ninth. Rotowire.com Saturday, 6:53 am

    • Kyle Finnegan slams door on Marlins in ninth
Kyle Finnegan secured his eighth save of the season on Friday night, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a two-run lead against the Marlins.

Advice: The 32-year-old right-hander made things look awfully easy in this one, getting Josh Bell on a swinging third strike, Jesus Sanchez on a line out to shortstop and Tim Anderson on a ground ball to second — needing only six pitches (all strikes) to get the job done. The underlying metrics aren’t great, but it’s hard to argue with the results that Finnegan has put up so far. He now boasts a 2.38 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 10/5 K/BB ratio over 11 1/3 innings while converting eight of his first nine save chances. Rotoworld Friday, 6:50 pm

    • Picks up win in rainout
Ragans (1-2) earned the win Thursday against the Blue Jays, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Ragan technically pitched a complete game Thursday, with the outing being called after five innings due to rain. Regardless of the shortened game, Ragans managed to bounce back from a horrific start against the Orioles on Apr. 20 and got in the win column for the first time this season. Outside of his start against Baltimore, Ragans owns a 1.91 ERA with 33 strikeouts across 28.1 innings pitched. He's tentatively scheduled for a rematch with the Blue Jays in Toronto early next week.
