Player Notes

  • Franco homers in third straight to top Mets
Maikel Franco homered in his third straight game Saturday, and the Phillies outlasted the Mets 10-8.

Advice: For the fourth game in a row, Franco had two hits, and for the third straight game one of those hits left the yard. He finished 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored on Saturday, with his three-run jack in the first inning accounting for all his runs driven in. He's finishing a relatively disappointing season on a high note, as the 24-year-old now has 25 homers and 87 RBI to go with a .253/.304/.433 line overall. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:16 pm
  • Asher earns win despite four unearned runs
Alec Asher allowed four runs -- all unearned -- over five innings in a win over the Mets on Saturday.

Advice: Two errors that contributed to a four-run fifth inning -- with the Phillies ahead 10-0 at that point -- marred Asher's final line, but he gave up just five hits without walking a batter in the victory. Asher has now allowed just four earned runs in four starts this year, posting a 1.66 ERA and 0.92 WHIP while going 2-0 in those starts. A rematch with the Mets on Friday looms in Asher's final start of 2016. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:03 pm
  • Gordon runs wild on Braves in Marlins victory
Dee Gordon went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs scored in the Marlins' 6-4 win over the Braves on Saturday.

Advice: Gordon had no fear for Braves catcher Anthony Recker, walking and stealing second base in the first inning, stealing third base in the third inning and stealing second again an inning later. The three steals give him 26 steals in 74 games this year. His .257/.298/.320 line leaves something to be desired, but the 28-year-old's speed is a fantasy difference-maker and with a full year to work with in 2017, he should once again be among the cream of the crop at second base. • Arenado goes 2-for-3 vs Dodgers Saturday
Nolan Arenado went 2-for-3 in a lopsided loss to the Dodgers on Saturday.

Advice: The Rockies predictably couldn't get anything going against Clayton Kershaw. Both of Arenado's hits were singles. He is having another fantastic season. He is rocking a .294 batting average with 40 home runs, 129 RBI and 112 runs scored. He is still only 25 years old. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:27 pm
  • Chen allows two runs over four versus Braves
Wei-Yin Chen allowed two runs over four innings of work Saturday against the Braves.

Advice: In his second start since coming off the disabled list, Chen threw 62 pitches -- four fewer than in his first start -- while allowing four hits and not issuing a walk. It was a similar line to his last start against the Nationals, and Chen now owns a 5.02 ERA and 1.28 WHIP through 21 starts this year. Chen will make his final start of 2016 Friday against the Nationals. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:08 pm
