    • Travis d'Arnaud went 1-for-4 with a home run against the A's on Tuesday.
Advice: D'Arnaud's fourth inning solo homer put the Mets up 1-0, but they had difficulty mustering up offense the rest of the way in the 6-2 setback. The 25-year-old backstop continues to be a fantasy godsend for owners who took a chance on him after he was promoted on June 24. He was demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas in early June after batting a cringe-worthy .180/.271/.273 over 39 games, but destroyed the ball on the farm (24-for-55 with six home runs, eight doubles, and 16 RBI over 15 games) to earn a quick trip back to the Big Apple. Since his promotion, d'Arnaud is 42-for-158 (.266) with eight homers, 10 doubles and a triple. That's serious power for a catcher. Keep riding the hot hand.

    • Travis d'Arnaud did his best to spark a rally, blasting a solo home run in the ninth inning, but it wasn't enough as the Mets lost to the Nationals on Wednesday.
Advice: D'Arnaud greeted closer Rafael Soriano with a lead-off home run to left field, cutting the Nationals' lead to one. The catcher has hit three home runs in his last five games and has looked much improved since returning from a demotion to Triple-A. He has a .230/.295/.398 slash line with 10 home runs and 30 RBI.

    • Travis d'Arnaud went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored against the Phillies on Sunday.
Advice: D'Arnaud hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, his second home run in three games. The catcher has also scored six times in the past five games. D'Arnaud is batting .226/.293/.383 on the year.

    • Dana Eveland will be unavailable until at least Friday after receiving a cortisone injection in his ailing left elbow.
Advice: The Mets are hoping it's not a disabled list situation, but it's not a given. Eveland has pitched surprisingly well for the Mets, posting a 3.09 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 21/5 K/BB ratio over 23 1/3 relief innings.

    • Ian Kennedy was blasted for six runs (five earned) over five innings in a loss to the Dodgers on Tuesday night.
Advice: The Dodgers didn't take Kennedy out of the yard, but they were quite content to make the evening miserable on him within the confines of Dodger Stadium. Chief amongst those hitting the balls on the screws were Matt Kemp and Justin Turner, each of whom doubled twice. You could be forgiven for not having seen this stinker coming: Kennedy came into the game 4-1 with a 2.57 ERA over his last eight starts. We do know, however, that the right-hander hates facing Los Angeles, having gone 0-3 with a 6.51 ERA in his previous six outings against them. While you're advised to avoid him in any matchup across from the Dodgers, Kennedy is a useful fantasy hurler against most everybody else. He will take a 3.72 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 168/54 K/BB ratio into this weekend's start in Arizona.

    • Ian Kennedy earned his ninth win, relenting three runs over six innings as the Padres defeated the Rockies 5-3 on Wednesday.
Advice: Since the beginning of July, Kennedy has allowed three or fewer runs in seven of eight starts. However, he hasn't exactly been an innings-eater, going beyond the sixth inning only twice in that span of time. On Wednesday, the Rockies scratched out six hits, including a D.J. LeMahieu solo home run, while drawing two walks and fanning eight times. Kennedy will take a 3.54 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 163/52 K/BB ratio into next week's start against the Dodgers on the road.
