    • Astros third base prospect Rio Ruiz went 2-for-5 with two doubles and a walk for High-A Lancaster on Wednesday, raising his season line to .293/.387/.428.
Advice: Ruiz has been solid all year, hitting well both on the road (.296/.385/.402) and at home (.291/.390/.455), as well as against lefties (.307/.382/.364) and righties (.289/.389/.451). With top shortstop prospect Carlos Correa out for the season with an ankle injury and the promotions of George Springer, Jon Singleton, and Domingo Santana, Ruiz is currently the Astros' top hitting prospect in the minors. He is unlikely to reach the major leagues before 2016, but he could be a top 10 fantasy third baseman at his peak.

    • Yankees recalled INF Yangervis Solarte from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Advice: Solarte was demoted a week ago, but he's back now that Carlos Beltran has been placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list. The 26-year-old is batting .260/.343/.393 over 71 games with the Yankees this season, but his production has dropped sharply since May.

    • Jedd Gyorko (plantar fasciitis) began running at the Padres' spring training complex Thursday.
Advice: It's the first time he's done so since landing on the disabled list and is obviously a big step as he works his way back from plantar fasciitis. Gyorko remains several weeks away from a return, but he's moving in the right direction.

    • Jedd Gyorko (plantar fasciitis) remains several weeks away from a return.
Advice: The good news is that Gyorko, according to Padres manager Bud Black, "had a good day" Tuesday as he resumed baseball activities at the team's spring training complex. The second baseman performed throwing exercises, took some swings and tested his injured left foot by running in a pool. "I want to know when he puts his spikes on and runs," said Black. "I've never seen anybody play baseball in a pool."

    • Jedd Gyorko (plantar fasciitis) took soft toss cuts Saturday.
Advice: Gyorko has been out since early June with plantar fasciitis. He had the boot on his left foot removed Tuesday and has begun his strength and stretching program. The second baseman will move his rehab to the Padres' spring training complex next week and could be ready for minor league rehab games pretty soon.
