    • Manny Machado underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a partially-torn ligament in his right knee.
Advice: Doctors said nothing unusual was found and that the procedure went according to plan. Machado is hoping to be ready for the start of spring training next year, though that's not necessarily guaranteed to happen. This is the second season in a row he's been shut down early by a major knee injury.

    • Manny Machado is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery on his right knee on Wednesday.
Advice: The procedure is to repair a partially torn ligament. He's hoping to be ready for spring training, but it's not a given since his timetable is expected to be similar to last year's ACL repair.

    • Manny Machado said he opted for surgery on his right knee because the injury wasn't getting any better.
Advice: Machado said he has abnormal knees, which would be a contributing factor to him injuring the same ligament in different knees in back-to-back years. He hopes to have the surgery to repair a partially torn ligament next week and be ready for spring training. It's no given that he'll be ready then, but this year's tear isn't as bad as the one in his other knee that caused him to miss the end of 2013 and the beginning of 2014.

    • A source tells Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports that Manny Machado is expected to have season-ending knee surgery within a week.
Advice: Machado has been on the disabled list since August 12 with a sprained ligament in his right knee, and Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Friday that the third baseman had no timetable for resuming baseball activities. It's a huge loss for the first-place Orioles, who will now have to rely more heavily on Chris Davis and others to fill the position. Machado's season got off to a late start after left knee surgery last season, playing in just 82 games this year.

    • David Wright was removed from Sunday's game against the Dodgers in the third inning due to neck spasms.
Advice: Wright had singled and scored a run during a five-run uprising in the third inning before departing. It's unclear at the moment how much, if any, time that he may miss with the injury, but the team should provide an update on his status shortly.

    • David Wright (shoulder) is in the Mets' starting lineup on Monday afternoon versus the Cubs.
Advice: Wright did not play Sunday after leaving Saturday's game with lingering soreness in his right shoulder. It's something that has bothered him for much of the 2014 season, and he currently holds a career-worst .711 OPS with only eight home runs in 117 games. The star third baseman probably won't be fully healthy again until 2015.

    • Mets manager Terry Collins confirmed Sunday that David Wright could miss multiple games with his shoulder soreness.
Advice: Wright has been battling a bruised rotator cuff for most of the season that appeared to be agitated when he was hit by a pitch in Saturday's game. Fantasy owners may want to have another option available for the upcoming week should the struggling third basemen be forced to rest.

    • Wilmer Flores finished 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run, but the Mets were handed a 3-2 loss by the Braves on Wednesday.
Advice: Flores tied the game up at 1-1 when he belted a Julio Teheran offering to left-center in the second inning. The 23-year-old has otherwise had little to write home about offensively this season, slashing .224/.258/.301 with two home runs and 15 RBI in 164 plate appearances.
