• MacKenzie Gore gives up five runs, loses to Padres
MacKenzie Gore surrendered five runs in five innings Tuesday in a loss to the Padres.

Advice: Gore was lucky not to be tossed at the beginning of this one, as he hit Jurickson Profar in the back leg with a pitch right after warnings were issued because of some thoroughly unnecessary jawing and a benches-clearing incident. Gore’s pitch, though, didn’t seem to be intentional. It did lead to an ejection anyway, as Padres manager Mike Shildt was ejected for taking issue with Gore not being tossed. Gore was a bit of a mess afterwards, walking three and striking out just one in the loss. Still, it’s probably not anything to worry about. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago
  • CJ Abrams reaches five times in loss to Padres
CJ Abrams went 3-for-3 with two walks Tuesday against the Padres.

Advice: It’s too bad this netted Abrams only one run and one RBI, even though the Nationals scored seven times. Unfortunately, the play from Abrams in this game that everyone will see was him being thrown out after lazily going back to first base following a single. He was also picked off first base in the game. He later appeared to have a stolen base, only to wind up getting sent back to first base because the umpire interfered with the catcher’s throw. • Taylor Walls has three hits in win
Taylor Walls went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI in a win over the Mariners on Tuesday.

Advice: Walls is now up to a robust .175/.277/.250 slash line since coming off the IL on June 7th. Still, the Rays continue to start him almost every game at shortstop due to his plus defense. Walls will likely never hit enough to be in fantasy lineups, but his presence in the Tampa Bay lineup will put a damper on the fantasy value of Brandon Lowe and Jose Caballero, who are splitting time at second base as a result. • Three hits, two steals Monday
Abrams went 3-for-5 with a double, two stolen bases and two runs scored in Monday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Padres.

Advice: Abrams has posted a trio of three-hit games over his last four contests. He'd been less fortunate on the basepaths lately, going 1-for-4 on stolen base attempts over the previous five games before his two swipes Monday. The shortstop is putting together a strong breakout campaign with a .275/.325/.502 slash line, 12 home runs, 39 RBI, 47 runs scored and 13 thefts over 70 contests. • Jurickson Profar wins game in 10th for Padres
Jurickson Profar delivered the game-winner in the 10th as the Padres edged the Nationals 7-6 on Monday.

Advice: Profar’s lone hit in five at-bats seemed to hang in the air forever, but it was put in the perfect spot to elude Lane Thomas and Jacob Young in right-center. The two-run single — it would have been at least a double under normal circumstances — came after Luis Arraez was walked to load the bases. Profar has hit in eight straight games, but since he’s collected just nine hits in that span and he’s been so productive on the season, he’s lost 20 points of OPS during the stretch (.917 to .897). • Yandy Díaz sparks Rays to comeback win over M’s
Yandy Díaz came through with a tie-breaking RBI single in the eighth inning on Monday, propelling the Rays to a 4-3 comeback victory over the Mariners.

Advice: Díaz capped off Tampa Bay’s late-inning rally by chopping a go-ahead run-scoring single into right field off Seattle closer Andrés Muñoz. The 32-year-old on-base machine has heated up at the dish of late, notching multi-hit performances in five of his last six games since June 19. He’s also homered twice during that span, just for good measure. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:42 pm

  • Recalled, starting Tuesday
The Padres recalled Mazur from Triple-A El Paso on Monday.

Advice: Mazur looked to be on his way out of the San Diego rotation after being optioned to Triple-A after he was lit up for three runs over 4.2 innings in a no-decision this past Friday against the Brewers, but he'll get at least one more start while Yu Darvish's (groin) return from the 15-day injured list will be delayed due to right elbow inflammation, per Dennis Lin of The Athletic. Over his four starts with San Diego this season, the rookie has gone 0-2 with a 7.27 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and 11:16 K:BB in 17.1 innings, numbers that make him an untrustworthy fantasy option. • Padres recall Adam Mazur to start Tuesday
Padres recalled RHP Adam Mazur from Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: The Padres are taking advantage of the Fernando Tatis Jr. injury to recall Mazur just three days after demoting him. He’ll start Tuesday against the Nationals, since Yu Darvish isn’t yet ready to go. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:49 pm

  • Productive trip to Pittsburgh
Lowe went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base Sunday against the Pirates.

Advice: Lowe blasted two home runs Friday and ended the Rays' series in Pittsburgh 6-for-11 with three runs scored, five RBI and a stolen base. After an injury-filled start to the season, Lowe has started to come around at the plate by tallying three multi-hit performances in his last six starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:52 am
