• Tanner Bibee strikes out 11 in loss to Reds
Tanner Bibee had mixed results in Wednesday’s loss to the Reds, giving up four runs on just four hits over his 5 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: The right-hander piled up 11 strikeouts during the impressive outing while issuing only one base on balls. Unfortunately, two of the four hits that he allowed left the yard — as Jeimer Candelario belted a solo homer in the opening inning and a go-ahead three-run shot that chased Bibee in the sixth. The 25-year-old hurler got a whopping 16 swings and misses on 102 pitches on the night — seven on his slider alone — while registering a CSW of 33 percent. He’ll look to get back in the win column as he carries a 3.94 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and an 87/20 K/BB ratio (75 1/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Mariners. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:07 pm
  • Jackson Merrill slugs walk-off homer to sink A’s
Jackson Merrill blasted two solo homers, including a game-winning blast in the ninth inning, powering the Padres to a 5-4 walk-off victory over the Athletics.

Advice: Merrill took Athletics fire-balling closer Mason Miller deep into the right-field corner for his fifth round-tripper of the season to send the Friars faithful home in walk-off fashion. The 21-year-old rookie center fielder also took Oakland starter Hogan Harris deep in the fifth inning as part of his first career multi-homer performance. He’s caught fire over the last few weeks, batting .294 (30-for-105) with three homers and five steals over his past 30 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:27 pm
  • Christian Yelich has three hits, steals base in win
Christian Yelich went 3-for-4 with an RBI and also stole a base on Wednesday in the Brewers’ victory over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Yelich finished with a game-high three hits, including a go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning, and also picked up his 12th stolen base in this one. The 32-year-old outfielder has been a revelation this season, batting .325 (51-for-157) with 22 runs scored, six homers, 30 RBI and 12 steals through 42 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:58 pm
  • Set to face hitters soon
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that Senga (shoulder/triceps) will throw two more bullpen sessions before progressing to facing hitters, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Advice: On Wednesday, Senga threw his second bullpen session since he was shut down with triceps tightness in late May. The session went well, and he will repeat the step two more times before being cleared to face hitters and eventually heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment. Senga has already been ruled out for the rest of the first half, but the righty remains optimistic he can be a contributor for the Mets after the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:17 pm

  • Set to regain closer role
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that Diaz (shoulder) will immediately become the team's closer upon his activation from the 15-day injured list Thursday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: Diaz had been part of a committee at closer for the Mets prior to landing on the IL with a right shoulder impingement in late May. However, Mendoza is now ready to restore Diaz to his old role beginning with Thursday's contest against the Marlins. Diaz has converted four of his nine save chances this season while holding a 5.40 ERA and 30:7 K:BB over 20 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:13 pm

  • Edwin Diaz to jump right back into closer’s role
Mets’ manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed Wednesday that Edwin Diaz will jump right back into the closer’s role upon his return from the injured list on Thursday.

Advice: Mendoza told reporters, “For us to make a run at this, we’re going to need Diaz to be Edwin Diaz.” That means Reed Garrett and Adam Ottavino will shift back into their high-leverage roles in the seventh and eighth innings. Before landing on the injured list with his right shoulder impingement, Diaz had posted a troublesome 5.40 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 30/7 K/BB ratio across 20 innings of work through his first 20 appearances on the year. • Mashes 16th homer
Stanton went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 10-1 win against Kansas City.

Advice: Stanton produced an RBI on a fielder's choice in the first inning and added a 446-foot solo blast in the seventh. It was a positive bounce-back after the slugger went 0-for-14 with seven strikeouts during the weekend's three-game series versus the Dodgers. Stanton's .229 batting average on the season isn't ideal, but he's tied for ninth in the league with 16 homers and has added 38 RBI along with 29 runs through 245 plate appearances. • Goes deep again Tuesday
Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in Tuesday's 15-2 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Hernandez's lone hit of the night was a big blast in the sixth, an inning during which the Dodgers scored seven runs on four homers. He now has five long balls and 12 RBI over his last five games and has totaled 10 hits over that span, raising his slash line to .266/336/.525 with 17 homers, 50 RBI, 40 runs scored and a 24:81 BB:K in 286 plate appearances. • Dominates Giants for sixth win
Blanco (6-2) got the win over the Giants on Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings.

Advice: Blanco matched his season high with eight strikeouts. His lone blemish on the night was allowing a solo home run to Brett Wisely in the third inning. It was an encouraging bounceback effort from the 30-year-old after allowing eight runs and combining to strike out eight over his prior two starts coming into Tuesday's game. Blanco now owns a 2.67 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 67:28 K:BB in 70.2 innings and lines up for an enticing matchup against the White Sox early next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:14 am
