    Jake Cronenworth went 0-for-4 on Tuesday, leaving him 12-for-56 in his last 15 games.

    Advice: Given his obvious decline in 2022 and ’23, Cronenworth was a very nice surprise to begin this year, batting .285/.349/.503 in his first 39 games.     Jake Cronenworth went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI against the Marlins on Monday.

    Advice: Cronenworth’s bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning was the difference in the Padres’ 2-1 victory over the Marlins. He continues to play second base after the Padres’ trade for Luis Arraez. Cronenworth’s average is up to .271 and his OPS is up to .806, both of which would be career-highs.     Jake Cronenworth is starting at second base for the first time in the 2024 season.

    Advice: This felt inevitable after the Padres traded for Luis Arraez, who is a well below-average defensive second baseman. Arraez will now slide to first base with Cronenworth moving to second. Cronenworth has been an above-average defensive second baseman over the last four seasons, so this move doesn’t figure to hurt the Padres at all and could be a boost for their pitchers.
