  • Mookie Betts plays second for first time in weeks
    The Dodgers have Mookie Betts at second base and Miguel Rojas at shortstop in Wednesday’s game against the Mets.

    Advice: It’s Betts’ first start at second base in exactly a month, as the Dodgers had been leaving him at shortstop when playing Rojas over Gavin Lux against lefties. This is how they did it in April before making Betts a permanent shortstop in recent weeks. Rotoworld Wednesday, 10:29 am

  • Jake Cronenworth goes 0-for-4 versus Marlins
    Jake Cronenworth went 0-for-4 on Tuesday, leaving him 12-for-56 in his last 15 games.

    Advice: Given his obvious decline in 2022 and ’23, Cronenworth was a very nice surprise to begin this year, batting .285/.349/.503 in his first 39 games.   • Cronenworth has double, RBI against Marlins Monday
    Jake Cronenworth went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI against the Marlins on Monday.

    Advice: Cronenworth’s bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning was the difference in the Padres’ 2-1 victory over the Marlins. He continues to play second base after the Padres’ trade for Luis Arraez. Cronenworth’s average is up to .271 and his OPS is up to .806, both of which would be career-highs.   • Doubles twice in loss
    Betts went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a walk in Friday's loss to the Reds.

    Advice: Betts led the game off with a single, knocked an RBI double in the second inning and added another double in the fourth. He entered Friday in a small slump, going 4-for-22 (.182) over his previous six contests. Despite the skid, he's hitting .291 through 20 games this month.   • Jake Cronenworth playing 2B for Padres on Thursday
    Jake Cronenworth is starting at second base for the first time in the 2024 season.

    Advice: This felt inevitable after the Padres traded for Luis Arraez, who is a well below-average defensive second baseman. Arraez will now slide to first base with Cronenworth moving to second. Cronenworth has been an above-average defensive second baseman over the last four seasons, so this move doesn’t figure to hurt the Padres at all and could be a boost for their pitchers.
