• Ronal Blanco takes first loss of 2024
Ronel Blanco took his first loss Friday after giving up four runs in 4 2/3 innings against the Twins.

Advice: Blanco walked three and gave up a two-run homer to Trevor Larnach. Apart from the time he was ejected for his sticky stuff, this is the first time this year that Blanco has failed to complete five innings. He’s still playable in mixed leagues for now, particularly since he’s about to face the Royals and White Sox in two starts next week. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago

Blanco is tentatively scheduled to make his next start against the Cardinals at home next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:31 pm

  • Shaky vs. Royals
Paddack did not factor into the decision Thursday against Kansas City, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Paddack got off to a rocky start, allowing a two-run homer to Vinnie Pasquantino in the first inning before allowing two more runs in the third and fourth. However, the Twins would rally back from a 4-0 hole to spare him the loss in an eventual 7-6 victory. Paddack had been sharp coming into Thursday's outing, allowing just four runs over 13 innings across his previous two starts. Overall, he's 4-2 on the season with a 4.57 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 54:12 K:BB across 61 innings. Paddack's currently in line for a tough road matchup with the Yankees in his next start. • Hits IL with shoulder impingement
The Mets placed Diaz on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder impingement.

Advice: Left-hander Josh Walker was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to take Diaz's spot on the 26-man active roster and in the New York bullpen. After blowing ninth-inning leads in four of his last five appearances, Diaz had already been expected to get a break from closing duties, and his injury will only further delay his opportunity to resurface as the Mets' preferred ninth-inning man. Reed Garrett and Adam Ottavino likely represent the best bets for saves out of the Mets bullpen while Diaz is on the shelf. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:01 pm

  • Mets place Díaz on IL with shoulder impingement
Mets placed RHP Edwin Díaz on the 15-day IL with a right shoulder impingement.

Advice: Well, this is definitely not something the Mets were planning a few hours ago, since Díaz’s replacement on the roster, Josh Walker, was just sent down earlier today. It’s nice to have this explanation for Díaz’s struggles, even if those struggles still seemed pretty fluky. Reed Garrett is probably the best bet in the Mets pen for now, though Adam Ottavino could get save chances as well. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:59 pm

Advice: Blanco struck out six and walked one, allowing just a solo home run to Max Schuemann in his outing. He induced 17 whiffs for a 31 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW. He got right back to doing what he was doing after his controversial suspension, and he now has a 1.99 ERA on the season to go along with a 5-0 record. He has a tougher test against the Twins next week but should be started against pretty much every offense right now while he’s pitching like this. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:05 pm
