• Back from injured list
The Mets reinstated Diaz (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.

Advice: Diaz has been on the injured list since late May due to a right shoulder impingement. He fired two shutout innings with High-A Brooklyn during a rehab assignment, and manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that the Mets will make Diaz their closer once again after the team had used a committee approach leading up to the injury. The 30-year-old righty currently owns a 5.40 ERA and 1.25 WHIP alongside a 30:7 K:BB through 20 innings on the year and has converted five of his nine save opportunities. • Edwin Díaz returns from IL as Mets’ closer
Mets activated RHP Edwin Díaz from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Díaz is slated to resume closing immediately for the Mets, though the Mets won’t want him to go long without pitching if they don’t generate a save chance these next two days. Díaz missed the minimum 15 days with a shoulder impingement. Rotoworld Today, 11:48 am

  • Kodai Senga (shoulder) throws bullpen session
Kodai Senga said his bullpen session Wednesday went well. He’s expected to have two more before facing hitters.

Advice: The Mets don’t have a timetable for Senga at this point, but from the sound of things, he could begin a rehab assignment at the end of the month if he continues to progress. Senga has yet to pitch this season because of a shoulder injury. Rotoworld Today, 9:21 am

  • Taking seat Thursday
Stanton is out of the lineup for Thursday's game in Kansas City.

Advice: Stanton slugged home runs in the second and third games of the series but has bookended the power output with days off in the first and now the fourth games. Aaron Judge will get a day out of the outfield and serve as the Yankees' designated hitter Thursday while Stanton rests. Rotowire.com Today, 8:32 am
  • Makes history with walk-off homer
Merrill went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the A's.

Advice: The rookie center fielder took Hogan Harris deep in the fifth inning, setting the stage for Merrill to play hero by ripping a slider from Mason Miller down the right-field line in the bottom of the ninth for his first career walk-off homer. In the process, Merrill become the youngest player in Padres history with a walk-off blast, and the youngest player in MLB history with a two-homer game that included a walk-off shot. The 21-year-old snapped a 26-game homer drought with the performance, and he's been heating up in June, batting .355 (11-for-31) over the last eight contests with four doubles, two steals, four RBI and five runs. • Homers in second straight game
Stanton went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run Wednesday in an 11-5 win over the Royals.

Advice: Stanton flexed his power with a 449-foot two-run blast in the fifth inning. It was his second straight game with a home run after an ugly weekend set against the Dodgers during which he went 0-for-14 with seven punchouts. Stanton is up to 17 homers and 40 RBI on the campaign along with a .233/.288/.491 slash line. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:42 pm
  • Goes deep Wednesday
Lindor went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs in a 10-4 victory versus Miami on Wednesday.

Advice: Lindor opened the bottom of the first inning with a double and subsequently scored on Harrison Bader's home run. The shortstop hit a long ball of his own in the eighth frame, going 414 feet to center field. Lindor has disappointed a bit this season after notching his first 30-30 campaign last year, though with 11 homers and nine steals he's one theft away from reaching double digits in both categories -- something only seven MLB players have done so far this season. • Strikes out 11 in loss
Bibee (4-2) took the loss to the Reds on Wednesday, allowing four runs on four hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

Advice: Bibee surrendered a solo home run to Jeimer Candelario in the first, then he was taken deep by him again for a three-run shot in the sixth. Otherwise, Bibee mostly looked fantastic with a season-high 11 strikeouts and a stretch where he retired 11 straight hitters. On the season, Bibee owns a 3.94 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 87:20 K:BB through 13 starts and lines up for a home matchup against the Mariners next Wednesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:08 pm

  • Giancarlo Stanton goes yard in blowout win
Giancarlo Stanton went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer against the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Stanton took Daniel Lynch deep for a two-run shot in the fifth inning to extend the Yankees big lead over the Royals. He then knocked a base hit in the seventh and scored on a three-run blast by Gleyber Torres. It was Stanton’s second straight game with two hits and one homer. The 34-year-old slugger is slashing .233/.288/.491 with 17 homers and 40 RBI across 250 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:03 pm
