      Advice: After allowing a total of six baserunners and three unearned runs over his last three appearances totaling 2.1 innings, Duran ran into no such trouble Sunday, retiring the Astros in order to collect his 10th save in as many attempts. Though he's yet to blow a save since making his season debut April 30, Duran has not been as dominant with an 8.4 K/9 compared with rates of 11.8 and 12.1 over his first two big-league seasons.       Jhoan Duran earned his 10th save with a perfect ninth against the Astros on Sunday.

      Advice: Duran typically throws his 100-mph fastball 45 percent of the time, but he used it just once in a 17-pitch outing today.       Smith has allowed two runs over nine innings since the start of May.

      Advice: Smith doesn't have the best control, having allowed six hits and three walks with just five strikeouts in that span. He's also picked up two of his four holds in that stretch, though manager Matt Quatraro has mostly kept Smith out of high-leverage situations since early April. The left-hander's season-long numbers remain poor (6.38 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, 12:8 K:BB), but he's been less volatile recently. With James McArthur, John Schreiber and Chris Stratton all pitching at a mediocre level in May, there could eventually be a path to high-leverage chances for Smith if he can keep performing well.       Duran picked up the save Thursday against the Royals, allowing two unearned runs on a hit and a walk in the ninth inning.

      Advice: Protecting a three-run lead in the ninth inning, Duran would allow a pair of runs on Bobby Witt's two-out single following a walk and a Carlos Santana error. However, Duran would coax a game-ending groundout from Vinnie Pasquantino, earning his ninth save in as many chances to open the year. While he's been a bit shaky of late, Duran's now gone five appearances (4.1 innings) without allowing an earned run.       Jhoan Duran allowed two runs (none earned) and picked up the save against the Royals on Thursday.



      Advice: The save was Duran’s ninth of the year. A missed catch error on first baseman Carlos Santana made the two runs that scored on Bobby Witt Jr.’s single unearned. With nine saves already, Duran remains perfect in save opportunities this year. He has rewarded patient fantasy managers that drafted the closer who was injured to begin the season.

However, pinch-runner Dairon Blanco was caught stealing second and Duran retired MJ Melendez and Nick Loftin to keep the Royals off the scoreboard.
