    • Arozarena hitting 2nd for Rays on Thursday
Randy Arozarena will hit second for Tampa Bay against the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: With a left-hander on the mound, the Rays will deploy their right-hand heavy lineup, which means Richie Palacios, Brandon Lowe, and Jonathan Aranda will all head to the bench. That allows Yandy Diaz to lead off and Arozarena to move up to second in the order. The 29-year-old has been struggling for the entirety of the 2024 season, but perhaps hitting in front of the Rays’ middle-of-the-order bats will give him more good pitches to hit and lead to a solid performance. • Tagged for three homers
Ober (5-3) took the loss Wednesday versus the Royals, allowing six runs on nine hits while striking out four and walking none over five innings.

Advice: Ober gave up hard contact -- Nelson Velazquez hit two home runs and Salvador Perez added a solo shot and an RBI double. This was the first time since his disastrous season debut that Ober allowed multiple homers, though he has yielded seven long balls over his last six starts. He's at a 4.89 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 58:12 K:BB through 57 innings over 11 starts this season. Ober's next start is projected to be on the road versus the Yankees. • Bailey Ober allows three homers, six earned runs
Bailey Ober struggled against the Royals allowing nine hits, three homers, and six earned runs across five innings in a loss. He struck out four and didn’t walk a batter.

Advice: Nelson Velázquez took Ober deep twice on nearly identical belt-high pitches. Salvador Perez did the same on another pitch that was practically down the middle. Ober also imploded against the Royals in his first start of the year allowing eight earned runs in just 1 1/3 innings. His ERA against every other team is 3.02 and is still trustworthy despite this latest frustration. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:14 pm

    • Connor Wong collects two hits in loss to Orioles
Connor Wong went 2-for-4 and scored the Red Sox’ lone run in Wednesday night’s loss to the Orioles.

Advice: Wong smacked a one-out single off of Corbin Burnes in the opening inning and took second on a throwing error by Colton Cowser. He then went to third on an errant pickoff throw and scored the game’s first run on a ground ball off the bat of Dominic Smith. That would be the extent of the Red Sox’ offense though. With his two-hit attack, the 28-year-old backstop is now slashing .329/.368/.471 with five homers, 19 RBI and a stolen base on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:09 pm

    • Sharp again Wednesday
Sanchez (3-3) earned the win Wednesday, holding the Giants to four hits and one walk over six scoreless innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: It was another impressive effort from Sanchez, who's now held opponents to two runs or fewer in eight of his 11 starts this season. The 27-year-old left-hander lowered his ERA to 2.83 with a 1.39 WHIP and 56:20 K:BB across 60.1 innings. Sanchez will look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently slated for early next week against Milwaukee. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:12 pm
    • Cristopher Sánchez fans seven to defeat Giants
Cristopher Sánchez recorded seven strikeouts over six shutout innings on Wednesday in a win over the Giants.

Advice: Sánchez had little trouble carving up a San Francisco lineup that has been one of the better in baseball this season against left-handed pitching, scattering four hits and one walk, needing just 96 pitches (68 strikes) to complete six frames. The 27-year-old lefty notched at least seven punchouts for the fifth time in 11 starts this season, inducing 11 swinging strikes and finishing with a solid 34 percent CSW. He’ll carry a strong 2.83 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 56/20 K/BB ratio across 60 1/3 innings (11 starts) into a home outing on Tuesday against the Brewers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:25 pm
    • Spencer Steer goes 0-for-4 against Cardinals
Spencer Steer went 0-for-4 in Wednesday’s loss to the Cardinals, dropping his average to .221.

Advice: Steer is hitting .190/.304/.354 this month. His exit velocity numbers and xBA/xSLG stats are all pretty much the same as last year, so it seems likely that he’ll rebound, hopefully in short order. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:40 pm

    • Day off Wednesday
Buxton is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Though Buxton played the entirety of Tuesday's 4-2 win and reached base four times while adding a steal, his knee collided with the left shin of the Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino in the third inning, when Buxton was running down the first-base line. The Twins haven't indicated that Buxton is dealing with anything more than minor wear and tear a day later, but he'll be given some rest Wednesday in any case. Minnesota will go with Willi Castro in center field against Kansas City starting pitcher Seth Lugo. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:39 pm

    • Swipes first bag, knocks in run
Wong went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI in Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Wong swiped his first bag of the season in the fifth inning then produced an insurance run with an eighth-inning single. The catcher, who batted .235 last season, continued a breakout at the dish and is batting .324 with an .836 OPS over 136 plate appearances. A .364 BABIP portends a correction is coming, but Wong is making more consistent contact and nearly halved his strikeout percentage, from 33.3 percent in 2023 to 17.6 percent in 2024.
