• Matt Mervis doubles, scores run against Mets
Matt Mervis went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored on Wednesday against the Mets.

Advice: Mervis doubled to lead off the fifth inning and took third base on a wild pitch. A sacrifice fly by Pete Crow-Armstrong brought Mervis in to score the only run of the game. The 26-year-old first baseman is 3-for-23 to start the year since he’s taken a strong-side platoon role against right-handers with the Cubs. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:56 pm

  • Returns from Triple-A
The Astros recalled Cabbage from Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Cabbage was returned to Triple-A after serving as the 27th man for the Astros' two-game series with the Rockies in Mexico City last weekend, but he'll be back with the big club just two days later after Houston optioned struggling first baseman Jose Abreu to their spring training facility. While he's up with the Astros, Cabbage will provide depth in the corner outfield and at first base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:09 pm

  • Sitting Wednesday
Cooper (wrist) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

  • Angels place Miguel Sanó (knee) on 10-day IL
Angels placed INF Miguel Sanó on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 28, with left knee inflammation.

Advice: The Angels had been playing a man down while the 30-year-old slugger was hobbled by a knee injury, but they simply couldn’t do it any longer. Willie Calhoun had his contract selected from Triple-A Salt Lake to take his place on the active roster. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:07 pm

  • Placed on IL with knee injury
The Angels placed Sano on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with left knee inflammation.

Advice: Sano has missed most of the last week with the injury, and the Angels finally decided to deactivate him. He will be eligible to return from the IL next week, but it's not clear yet whether he's expected to make it back by that time. Willie Calhoun was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding movfe and could see some starts at designated hitter, although the Halos might filter through multiple players in the spot.
