• To be optioned Thursday
The Red Sox will option Valdez to Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: After a promising rookie campaign in 2023, Valdez has slashed just .156/.186/.267 across 98 plate appearances in the majors to begin the season and is now in line to return to the minors in an effort to get back on track at the plate. Zack Short -- who was acquired from the Mets on Wednesday -- will be activated Thursday to fill Valdez's roster spot. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:28 pm
  • First MLB homer since 2021
Adrianza went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Adrianza notched his first round-tripper in 132 at-bats, dating back to October of 2021. After spending early portions of the season in Triple-A Salt Lake, Adrianza was called up on Apr. 21 with Anthony Rendon (hamstring) moved to the IL. Since then, Adrianza has gone 4-for-15 (.267) with three runs scored and two RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:11 pm
  • Three hits, steal in win
Castro went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 10-5 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Castro wound up a homer shy of a cycle Wednesday while recording his fifth multi-hit game during his current eight-game hitting streak. He's gone 16-for-35 (.457) over the course of the streak, boosting his slash line to .270/.339/.450 through 30 games this year. The 27-year-old Castro added two homers, 13 runs scored, 12 RBI and three stolen bases while serving as the Twins' primary third baseman in the absence of Royce Lewis (quadriceps). • Matt Mervis doubles, scores run against Mets
Matt Mervis went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored on Wednesday against the Mets.

Advice: Mervis doubled to lead off the fifth inning and took third base on a wild pitch. A sacrifice fly by Pete Crow-Armstrong brought Mervis in to score the only run of the game. The 26-year-old first baseman is 3-for-23 to start the year since he’s taken a strong-side platoon role against right-handers with the Cubs. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:56 pm
  • Emmanuel Rivera scores twice as Marlins roll
Emmanuel Rivera went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored as the Marlins rolled past the Rockies on Wednesday night in Miami.

Advice: Rivera singled off of Dakota Hudson with two outs in the second inning, but was left stranded at first. He was then hit by a pitch to start the fifth inning and scored the game’s first run on an RBI knock by Luis Arraez. The 27-year-old then singled in the sixth inning before drawing a walk and scoring on a two-run single by Dane Myers in the ninth. He’s now hitting .242/.324/.274 with zero homers, four RBI and a stolen base in 71 plate appearances to start the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:31 pm

  • Has big game Wednesday
Vierling went 2-for-3 with a home run, an additional run scored and three total RBI in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Vierling connected for a two-run shot in the third inning, his third home run of the season, then drove in another run on a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The 27-year-old has been seeing regular time at third base with Gio Urshela (hamstring) out, and Vierling has responded with a solid .282 average and .758 OPS, giving him decent short-term fantasy value. • Recalled from Triple-A
The Astros recalled Amaya from Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: With Chas McCormick (hamstring) headed for the 10-day IL, Amaya will come up from the minors to give the Astros an additional bench bat. However, the 25-year-old infielder is slashing just .190/.297/.302 across 74 plate appearances at Triple-A, so he likely won't see much playing time while with Houston. • Astros recall Jacob Amaya from Triple-A
Astros recalled INF Jacob Amaya from Triple-A Sugar Land.

Advice: The 25-year-old infielder will add depth to the Astros’ bench with Chas McCormick (hamstring) hitting the injured list on Wednesday. He’s unlikely to see enough playing time to gain any sort of relevancy from a fantasy perspective. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:20 pm

  • Returns from Triple-A
The Astros recalled Cabbage from Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Cabbage was returned to Triple-A after serving as the 27th man for the Astros' two-game series with the Rockies in Mexico City last weekend, but he'll be back with the big club just two days later after Houston optioned struggling first baseman Jose Abreu to their spring training facility. While he's up with the Astros, Cabbage will provide depth in the corner outfield and at first base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:09 pm
