• Fielding grounders, throwing
Manager Torey Lovullo said Saturday that Perdomo (knee) has been fielding live ground balls and has also resumed throwing, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: Perdomo still has yet to resume hitting, as the Diamondbacks are going to take a cautious approach with his rehab just three weeks removed from knee surgery. The 24-year-old infielder remains without a definite return timeline, but Lovullo noted he is encouraged by the progress Perdomo has made so far. Rotowire.com 19 minutes ago

  • Optioned to Triple-A
The Padres optioned Pauley to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.

Advice: Pauley will be squeezed off the major-league roster following the acquisition of Luis Arraez from Miami. Pauley has been fantastic in the minors but struggled to get going upon joining the Padres, slashing .125/.125/313 across 32 plate appearances. The 23-year-old infielder may still return to the big leagues later this season as a bench piece, but San Diego's loaded infield unit will make it hard for him to contribute on a regular basis. • Padres option Graham Pauley back to Triple-A
Padres optioned INF/OF Graham Pauley to Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: With Luis Arraez joining the Padres on Saturday, someone needed to get the boot from the active roster and Pauley was the odd-man out. The 23-year-old will return to an everyday role at Triple-A El Paso until he’s called upon once again. Rotoworld Today, 2:11 pm

  • Christopher Morel continues power surge vs. Brewers
Christopher Morel went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk on Saturday against the Brewers.

Advice: After drawing a walk in the first inning, Morel took Tobias Myers deep for a two-run homer in the third to extend the Cubs lead. Morel can certainly hit homers in bunches, as he’s now gone yard in three straight games and four of his last six. The 24-year-old third baseman is slashing .213/.292/.426 with seven homers, 20 runs scored, 20 RBI, and three steals across 137 plate appearances. Despite the low batting average, Morel has significantly cut down his strikeout rate so far this season, a good sign that we can see his numbers improve as we get into the summer. • Back to majors
The Marlins recalled Bride from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.

Advice: Bride played in five games for the Marlins at the beginning of the season, going 1-for-7 with a walk over that span. He was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on April 4, and he has been tearing it up in the minors with a .349 batting average and 1.180 OPS over 110 plate appearances. To make room for Bride, Miami optioned right-hander Woo-suk Go to Triple-A Jacksonville. Rotowire.com Today, 12:03 pm
  • Starting Saturday
Sosa is starting at shortstop and batting eighth in Saturday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Sosa is set to takeover as the primary shortstop with Trea Turner landing on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring strain. Sosa has appeared in nine games this season and is 6-for-21 with two runs, one double, one home run and two RBI over that span. Rotowire.com Today, 11:37 am

  • Belts homer Friday
Machado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, an additional run and a walk Friday in a 7-1 victory versus Arizona.

Advice: Machado accounted for the Padres' final two runs in the victory with his fifth-inning blast. The homer extended his hitting streak to five games, though he's notched exactly one hit in each contest and is batting just .238 during that stretch. Machado does have six RBI during the hitting streak, though, which is more than he had accumulated in his previous 20 games combined. Rotowire.com Today, 11:29 am

  • Marlins recall Bride from Triple-A to replace Arraez
Marlins recalled INF Jonah Bride from Triple-A Jacksonville.

Advice: Bride is up to take the roster spot of Luis Arraez after Arraez was traded to the Padres. Bride went 1-for-7 in his limited action with Miami earlier in the year, and he likely will only be a bench option while with the Marlins in this chance. Rotoworld Today, 11:28 am
  • Back up to majors
The Brewers recalled Monasterio from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Advice: Monasterio has appeared in four games with the Brewers this season, going 0-for-7 with two runs and two walks. He's slashing .243/.362/.297 with seven runs, two doubles, six steals and four RBI over 47 plates appearances in Triple-A this season. Monasterio's move up to the majors corresponds with the Brewers placing Joey Wiemer (knee) on the 10-day IL. Rotowire.com Today, 9:55 am
