    Corbin Carroll went 1-for-4 with a single as the Diamondbacks were demolished by the Padres on Saturday night in San Diego.

    Advice: Hitting out of the eighth spot in the Diamondbacks’ lineup, the 23-year-old outfielder singled with two outs in the fifth inning but was left stranded at first base. He struck out in each of his other two plate appearances in the ballgame.   • Bryan De La Cruz goes yard in blowout loss
    Bryan De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer against the Athletics on Saturday.

    Advice: De La Cruz knocked a base hit in the fourth inning, then took Dany Jiménez deep for a two-run homer in the eighth. It wouldn’t be nearly enough in Miami’s blowout loss. Carlson has been shelved since spring training due to his shoulder injury but is finally ready to return to the Cardinals’ outfield.     Advice: Carlson completed a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis and got through a workout at Busch Stadium on Saturday to clear the way for his season debut. The 25-year-old missed the first month-plus of the season with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder. With Tommy Edman (wrist) still out, Carlson should see the bulk of the starts in center field for St. Louis. However, it's possible the club could ease him into a full-time role.     Jack Suwinski went drove in the winning run with a pinch-hit single as the Pirates won a 1-0 game against the Rockies on Saturday.

    Advice: Suwinski stepped in to pinch-hit with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth. It just took one run to walk it off in the scoreless game. He delivered just that, knocking a single to left field to end the game.     Wiemer was diagnosed with a strained popliteus muscle in his left knee Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

  • Christopher Morel continues power surge vs. Brewers
    Christopher Morel went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk on Saturday against the Brewers.

    Advice: After drawing a walk in the first inning, Morel took Tobias Myers deep for a two-run homer in the third to extend the Cubs lead. Morel can certainly hit homers in bunches, as he’s now gone yard in three straight games and four of his last six. The 24-year-old third baseman is slashing .213/.292/.426 with seven homers, 20 runs scored, 20 RBI, and three steals across 137 plate appearances. Despite the low batting average, Morel has significantly cut down his strikeout rate so far this season, a good sign that we can see his numbers improve as we get into the summer.
