• Throws 6.1 shutout innings in win
Lorenzen (3-3) earned the win against the Marlins on Saturday, allowing five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over 6.1 shutout innings.

Advice: After allowing the first two hitters he faced to reach base, Lorenzen settled in and held the Marlins in check for his fourth straight quality start. Lorenzen has gone at least six innings in eight of his nine starts this season and now owns a 2.96 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 44:26 K:BB through 54.2 innings. Lorenzen offers eligibility at starting pitcher and relief pitcher and will look to stay hot in a home matchup against the Giants next weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 6:48 pm
  • Tagged for seven runs
Brooks allowed seven runs on seven hits and a walk over 4.1 innings in a no-decision against Atlanta. He struck out one.

Advice: Five of the seven runs charged to Brooks came in Atlanta's six-run fifth inning. The 34-year-old right-hander now sports a 5.82 ERA with a 1.62 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB over 21.2 innings -- he came into the day with a 3.63 ERA through his first three starts. Brooks will look for a better result in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week at home versus Toronto. Rotowire.com Today, 6:03 pm

  • Ranger Suarez leaves start with left hand contusion
Ranger Suarez was pulled from Saturday’s start against the Cardinals after being hit in the left hand by a comebacker.

Advice: For now, the Phillies are calling it a left-hand contusion, so it sounds like the 28-year-old southpaw was fortunate to have avoided any serious injury. Prior to exiting, he had worked two perfect innings with a pair of strikeouts. It doesn’t sound like his next start should be in jeopardy, but fantasy managers should pay close attention to his status over the next couple of days just to be on the safe side. • Michael Kopech allows unearned run in loss to MIL
Michael Kopech allowed an unearned run while striking out two and picking up a loss Saturday to the Brewers.

Advice: The run doesn’t get charged to Kopech because it was the “zombie runner” that was placed on second base to begin the bottom of the 10th. He still gets the loss with Willy Adames singling in William Contreras to give the Brewers a win and the White Sox their 10th straight loss. Rotoworld Today, 5:19 pm

  • Robert Gasser gives up two homers, three runs
Robert Gasser gave up three runs in five innings while not factoring into the decision Saturday against the White Sox.

Advice: Gasser gave up seven hits — two of those homers — while striking out three and not issuing a walk. It’s a bit of a disappointing effort considering how bad Chicago’s lineup is, but credit to the 25-year-old for limiting the damage to just the roundtrippers. He’ll have a chance to lower his 2.57 ERA against the Tigers next weekend. Rotoworld Today, 5:18 pm

  • Garrett Crochet strikes out eight in no-decision
Garrett Crochet held the Brewers to one run over six innings while striking out eight Saturday in a no-decision versus the White sox.

Advice: Crochet scattered five hits with one walk. The left-hander continues to impress even while playing for arguably the worst team in baseball, and he’s struck out 19 over his last two outings while allowing just three runs over 12 innings. Any question that Crochet has the stuff to succeed as a starter was pretty silly, but it should have been answered now. The questions of whether he can handle the modern rigors remain in doubt, but right now, Crochet is an excellent fantasy option even if the wins won’t come. A chance to impress is scheduled over the weekend against the Red Sox. Rotoworld Today, 5:18 pm

  • Stumbles vs. Oakland
Sale allowed eight runs on nine hits and a walk over four innings against the A's on Saturday. He struck out four.

Advice: It was a rough day for Sale, who allowed six runs in his first two innings before Brent Rooker added two more with a home run in the fourth. Sale hadn't allowed more than one run in six straight starts prior to Saturday while recording eight or more strikeouts in each of his last five outings. Overall, the veteran left-hander is 8-1 on the season with a 3.06 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 82:10 K:BB across 67.2 innings. Sale will look to right the ship in his next start, currently scheduled for next week in Washington. Rotowire.com Today, 5:14 pm

  • Ryan Weathers whiffs 11 in loss to Rangers
Ryan Weathers struck out 11 but allowed four runs over six innings in a loss to the Rangers on Saturday.

Advice: The 11 strikeouts are a season-high for Weathers, and it’s the second time he’s reached double digits in 2024. The punchouts are nice, but he also allowed nine hits and four runs, so this was a mixed effort at best from the 24-year-old. Still, it’s nice to see some flashes of what Made Weathers the seventh pick of the 2018 MLB Draft. Rotoworld Today, 5:08 pm

  • Allows three runs vs. White Sox
Gasser didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the White Sox, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out three in five innings.

Advice: All three of the runs against Gasser came via the home-run ball Saturday -- an Andrew Benintendi solo shot in the third inning followed by a two-run blast off the bat of Gavin Sheets in the fourth. It's just the second time in five starts that Gasser's allowed more than one run. Overall, the left-hander is 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 16 strikeouts while issuing just one walk through his first 28 innings. Gasser's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Tigers in his next outing. Rotowire.com Today, 5:07 pm
