• Exits game with bruised knee
Santander was removed from Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays due to a bruised knee, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Santander banged up his knee when he collided with the outfield wall and then aggravated it on a double and a slide in the eighth inning before being lifted in the ninth. It doesn't sound like a big concern, and it's possible the Orioles' scheduled off day will be enough rest for Santander. Consider him day-to-day. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • Calf injury still lingering
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Wednesday that Hays is still dealing with lingering effects from his left calf injury, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Hays was just activated Monday following a three-week absence and evidently is still not feeling 100 percent. He did deliver a pinch-hit double off the bench Wednesday but was then pinch-ran for. It does not sound like Hays going back on the injured list is being considered at this time, but the lingering calf issue could affect how much playing time he sees. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago

  • Gets first day off of season
Acuna is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Acuna is on the bench for the series finale, but his absence doesn't appear to be anything more than a much-needed maintenance day after he had started in right field in each of Atlanta's first 39 games of the season. Adam Duvall will step in as the starting right fielder in place of Acuna, who is in the midst of a cool stretch at the plate with just four hits in 31 at-bats over his last eight starts. • Anthony Santander leaves game with bruised knee
Anthony Santander was pulled from Wednesday’s contest against the Blue Jays due to a bruised knee.

Advice: Santander initially suffered the injury when he crashed into the outfield wall in the third inning on Wednesday. He then aggravated if further while sliding into second base during the eighth inning. It doesn’t sound like it’s anything that should require a trip to the injured list, but there’s a chance that the 29-year-old slugger will be held out of the lineup an extra day or two to be on the safe side. • Andrew McCutchen posts three hits in blowout loss
Andrew McCutchen went 3-for-4 with a solo homer on Wednesday in the Pirates’ lopsided defeat at the hands of the Brewers.

Advice: McCutchen was arguably the lone ray of sunshine on a brutal afternoon for Pittsburgh, tallying nearly half of their eight hits in a one-sided affair at American Family Field. The 37-year-old veteran designated hitter scored the first run of the contest on Connor Joe’s third-inning sacrifice fly before going deep in garbage time with a seventh-inning blast off Brewers reliever Jared Koening for his fifth long ball of the season. • Jackson Chourio swats 441-foot homer in blowout
Jackson Chourio went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer on Wednesday in the Brewers’ blowout win over the Pirates.

Advice: Chourio obliterated a 441-foot no-doubter to left field off Pirates veteran lefty Martín Pérez in the sixth inning for his fifth round-tripper of the season. The 20-year-old top prospect has undoubtedly been scuffling at the plate recently, but this was the type of moonshot that could potentially get him going again. It was his first time leaving the yard since April 20. He’s still a work in progress, but he’s shown flashes of immense five-category fantasy upside so far in his Brewers debut. It’s only a matter of time before he makes the leap to superstardom. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago

  • Resting against lefty
Marsh is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Advice: With lefty Joey Lucchesi on the bump for the Mets, the lefty-hitting Marsh will head to the bench Wednesday. Cristian Pache replaces him in left field. Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago

  • Back on bench Wednesday
Merrifield is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Advice: With Bryce Harper (migraine) and Kyle Schwarber (back) both missing time in recent days, Merrifield was one of the main beneficiaries. He started in seven of the previous eight games while manning three different positions, but Merrifield provided just three hits over 32 at-bats over that stretch to bring his batting average down to .188. Both Harper and Schwarber are simultaneously in the lineup for the first time since last Friday, so Merrifield will retreat to the bench and will most likely be in store for a reduction in playing time moving forward. • Five innings on defense Tuesday
Diaz (calf) started at third base and played five innings in Triple-A Las Vegas' win over El Paso on Tuesday, going 1-for-3 with an RBI single.

Advice: Diaz picked up the first hit of his three-game rehab stint on his final at-bat of the evening, and he took another step in the right direction by logging five frames on defense for the second straight game. The veteran is likely to continue taking a day off between appearances for the moment as his ramp-up following a long layoff continues. Rotowire.com Today, 11:58 am
