• Dealing with knee injury
Buxton's removal from Wednesday's game against the White Sox was due to right knee soreness, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Buxton tweaked his knee on a stolen base attempt in the second inning of Wednesday's contest. It's the same knee that he's had surgery on twice, with the most recent operation occurring last October. It's not clear at this point how big of a setback this could be, but the Twins could offer more detail on Buxton's condition after the game. Rotowire.com Today, 12:44 pm

  • Byron Buxton dealing with right knee soreness
Twins announced Byron Buxton is dealing with right knee soreness after he exited Wednesday’s game.

Advice: Phew. It appears Buxton avoided any significant injury after he attempted to steal second base and came off the field in pain. Buxton can be considered day-to-day for the time being. Rotoworld Today, 12:38 pm

  • Heads to bench Wednesday
Santander is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: Santander will get a breather after he had started each of Baltimore's last 13 games while posting an .886 OPS. The 29-year-old isn't at any risk of losing hold of an everyday role, but he'll cede his spot in the lineup Wednesday to rookie Heston Kjerstad, who has played sparingly since being called up from Triple-A Norfolk on April 23. • Cleared for season debut
Triple-A Columbus reinstated Valera (hamstring) from its 7-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Valera looks set to make his season debut Wednesday against Toledo after missing the first month of the campaign due to a hamstring strain. The 23-year-old outfielder didn't conduct a rehab assignment with one of the Guardians' lower-level affiliates prior to being activated, but he was presumably able to prepare for his 2024 Columbus debut by ramping up through simulated games at extended spring training in Arizona. • Takes live BP on Tuesday
Andujar (knee) took live batting practice against Scott Alexander (ribs) on Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.

Advice: Andujar began a running program on April 23 and is expected to next run the bases Saturday, per MLB.com. If he gets through that step without setbacks, the veteran is expected to head out on a multi-game rehab assignment at a yet-to-be-determined affiliate shortly thereafter. • Exits with apparent leg injury
Buxton was removed from Wednesday's game against the White Sox in the bottom of the second inning with an apparent leg injury, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Advice: After reaching on a base hit in his first plate appearance of the day in the top of the second inning, Buxton attempted a steal of second base but came up lame and walked off the field gingerly after being tagged out. The Twins should have more clarity on the nature of Buxton's injury later Wednesday. Rotowire.com Today, 11:57 am

  • Sits against right-hander again
Fraley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Advice: For the second straight day, Fraley finds himself on the bench with a right-handed pitcher (Joe Musgrove) on the hill. The Reds haven't indicated that Fraley is nursing an injury, but the outfielder has thus far struggled to bounce back since returning to the lineup after a week-long absence due to an illness. In his first three games back in action, Fraley went 0-for-11 with five strikeouts. If Fraley is unable to show improvement in his subsequent starting opportunities, he could fade into more of a part-time role for Cincinnati. Rotowire.com Today, 11:47 am

  • Cora: Masataka Yoshida (hand) headed to IL
Red Sox placed Masataka Yoshida on the injured list with a left hand injury, according to manager Alex Cora.

Advice: Yoshida was absent from Tuesday’s lineup and now he’ll be out for an extended period of time. The move hasn’t come over the transaction wire, so it’s unknown if he’ll be on the 10-day or 15-day. Rotoworld Today, 11:46 am
  • Headed to injured list
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that Yoshida (hand) will be placed on the 10-day injured list, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.

Advice: Yoshida had been set to undergo an MRI after jamming his left hand during Sunday's game versus the Cubs. While the results of that exam aren't known, the injury is evidently bad enough to result in an IL stint, which will likely be made official shortly before Wednesday's game against the Giants. First baseman Dominic Smith is reportedly set to sign a major-league deal with the Red Sox, so he'll presumably take Yoshida's spot on the 26-man active roster. Rotowire.com Today, 11:43 am
