• Steal, two RBI in loss
India went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and two RBI in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Padres.

Advice: India delivered a two-run single in the sixth inning then put himself in scoring position with his third steal of the season. He took a turn at cleanup -- his first time this season -- as the Reds continue to work around the absence of primary cleanup hitter Christian Encarnacion-Strand (hand). India is 9-for-23 (.391) over six games since returning from an illness that cost him four days. Rotowire.com Today, 4:29 am
  • Mediocre results versus former team
Martinez (0-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Padres, allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out three over five innings.

Advice: The Padres first got to Martinez in the third with a run and then would plate four more in the fifth with a bases loaded double by Manny Machado being the big hit in the inning. It hasn't been smooth sailing for Martinez to begin his tenure with the Reds, as he's given up at least three runs and six hits in all four of his starts thus far while managing to get to six innings once. The 33-year-old owns a 5.46 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 20:3 K:BB in 28 innings. If Frankie Montas (forearm) is able to return when first eligible next week then it's likely Martinez returns to a long relief role in the bullpen for the foreseeable future. • Homers in loss
Candelario went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to San Diego.

Advice: Candelario and Stuart Fairchild each homered in the seventh inning, closing a four-run deficit to two. It was the second consecutive game with multiple hits for Candelario, who endured an 0-for-19 slump heading into the series against the Padres. He's hitting .189/.282/.378 with three homers and nine RBI through 103 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 4:14 am
  • Swats homer in defeat
Fairchild went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Fairchild took Enyel De Los Santos deep to center in the seventh to bring the Reds within two runs. It was his first home run of the year, first hit since April 22, and first RBI since had had two April 20. The 28-year-old has not been overly productive when given the chance to be in the lineup, as he's slashing .200/.273/.267 with six RBI, seven runs, five steals and a 5:12 BB:K in 67 plate appearances. • Goes five outs for save
Munoz completed a five-out save in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Atlanta, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out three in the process.

Advice: Munoz was forced into the game a bit earlier than expected after Ryne Stanek allowed three base hits to turn things into a 3-1 ballgame. Munoz did allow an inherited runner to score on a throwing error but was dominant otherwise and retired the side in order in the ninth with two strikeouts. Tuesday was the fourth time this season Munoz has pitched more than three outs and it was the third consecutive save he's converted, with all three coming over the last five days. The 25-year-old now owns a 2.25 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 16:7 K:BB in 12 innings thus far. Rotowire.com Today, 4:06 am
  • Opens Tuesday
Hughes opened Tuesday's game and allowed one hit while striking out two over a scoreless inning in a 4-3 extra-inning win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Hughes had his contract purchased from Triple-A Reno earlier in the day then found out he was starting 45 minutes before first pitch, per Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports. The left-hander was the first of seven pitchers in what became a bullpen day caused by a delay. A 6:40 pm scheduled start turned into an 8:35 pm start after a colony of bees settled atop the protective netting behind home plate. Arizona's scheduled starter, Jordan Montgomery, was scratched and is expected to start Wednesday. Rotowire.com Today, 4:04 am
  • Landon Knack holds D-Backs to one run over five
Landon Knack surrendered just one run while working five innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Knack’s only run allowed came on a Christian Walker solo homer in the fourth inning. Outside of that the right-hander was solid against the Arizona lineup Tuesday while allowing four hits with a walk and picking up a pair of strikeouts. Knack doesn’t have elite swing-and-miss stuff, but he can throw everything for strikes and keep hitters off balance. There’s a good chance he starts next week against the Marlins, but the Dodgers haven’t yet announced another start for Knack. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:23 pm
  • Andrés Muñoz gets five-out save against ATL
Andrés Muñoz pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to get a save against Atlanta on Tuesday.

Advice: Muñoz did allow an inherited runner to score with a throwing error. After that snafu the right-hander was absolutely dominant while picking up three strikeouts along with his fifth save of the season. Muñoz does have occasional hiccups with his command, but there aren’t many pitchers in baseball who have better swing-and-miss stuff. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:47 pm
  • Yu Darvish blanks Reds for five innings in win
Yu Darvish shut out the Reds for five innings to win Tuesday in his return from the injured list.

Advice: Darvish allowed three hits, walked none and struck out three in the 6-4 victory. It’s his first win in six starts this season, and it’s the first time he’s gone without allowing a run since last July 29 against the Rangers. He’ll face his previous club, the Cubs, next time out on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:05 pm
