• Pirates option Ryder Ryan to Indianapolis
Pirates optioned RHP Ryder Ryan to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: The move clears room on the active roster for Ji-Hwan Bae. Ryan has posted a 14/7 K/BB and 3.46 ERA in 13 MLB innings in 2024, and he should be back at some point this summer. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago

  • Recall made official
The Pirates recalled Bae from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

Advice: Bae began the season on the injured list with a hip issue and was optioned once healthy. He's earned a promotion following a terrific run at Indianapolis, though, during which he sported a .367/.479/.551 batting line with four home runs and seven stolen bases over 27 games. Bae is capable at a handful of positions but is mostly a second baseman and center fielder. He could see semi-regular duty. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago

  • Loses roster spot
The Pirates optioned Ryan to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

Advice: Ryan has mostly been effective, holding a 3.46 ERA and 14:7 K:BB over 13 innings. He has been a bit wild lately, though, including in his last appearance when he walked a pair and allowed a run without recording an out. Ji Hwan Bae will absorb his roster spot. • Returns to mound
Pressly threw a scoreless inning without allowing a baserunner and striking out one Monday against the Angels.

Advice: Pressly was out for the team's weekend series with finger soreness, but he showed no ill effects in his return. He entered the game in the eighth inning with the Astros down three, presumably because the team wanted to get him some work after the layoff. Pressly has struggled a bit of late, allowing an earned run in half of his last four appearances. He has a 5.19 ERA on the season. Rotowire.com Today, 8:22 am

  • Tallies third stolen base
Lee went 1-for-3 with an RBI, a walk and a stolen base Monday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Lee has had a poor start to the White Sox's current road trip, as he's struck out eight times across 13 plate appearances. However, he's been surprisingly aggressive when he's reached base, attempting three stolen bases across in his last five contests while being successful twice. Lee has slowly taken over the primary catcher role, though he still alternates time behind the dish with Martin Maldonado. Rotowire.com Today, 8:10 am
  • Cade Cavalli (elbow) throws 2 /23 scoreless in FCL
Cade Cavalli (elbow) struck out five over 2 2/3 scoreless innings during a rehab start Monday in the Florida Complex League.

Advice: Cavalli allowed one hit and one walk. The right-hander has made steady progress as of late from Tommy John surgery, and he was up to 97 mph while throwing 25-of-44 pitches for strikes. Cavalli will likely need to make a couple more rehab starts at the minimum, but he could be back in the rotation for the Nationals by the end of June. Rotoworld Today, 7:50 am

  • Sharp in first rehab start
Cavalli (elbow) allowed one hit and one walk in 2.2 scoreless innings for the Nationals' Florida Complex League team Monday. He struck out five.

Advice: Seeing his first game action since undergoing Tommy John surgery in March 2023, Cavalli simply overmatched FCL hitters over 44 pitches. The 25-year-old right-hander touched 97 mph with his fastball, per Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports, and the one hit off him came from MLB veteran Jose Abreu. Washington will now have 30 days to decide whether Cavalli is ready to join the big-league rotation in mid-June, but if the front office decided he needs more time to complete his recovery, he could be optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Either way, Cavalli should be back on the 26-man roster some time this summer. Rotowire.com Today, 7:43 am

  • Atlanta adds Daysbel Hernandez from Triple-A
Atlanta recalled RHP Daysbel Hernandez from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Advice: Hernandez, 27, was pitching well for Gwinnett with a 1.65 ERA and 22/9 K/BB over 12 appearances and 16 1/3 innings. He’ll take the roster spot of Ray Kerr, with Kerr heading to Triple-A in the corresponding transaction. Rotoworld Today, 7:33 am
  • Starting spot in jeopardy
Baty went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Monday's loss to the Guardians, and he's at risk of losing his starting job at third base to Mark Vientos, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Since a two-homer game May 3, Baty is slashing an anemic .125/.186/.150 with a 43.2 percent strikeout rate. Vientos has mainly been used as a short-side platoon option since his most recent promotion, but he's gone 4-for-14 with two doubles in four games. Baty hasn't let his struggles impact his defense, and that might be the only thing keeping him in the starting nine at the moment. With the Mets scrambling to find offense, though, they might decide they can live with Vientos' inferior glove at the hot corner if he can produce at the plate. Rotowire.com Today, 7:32 am
