• Throws bullpen Friday
Kelly (shoulder) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Friday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Advice: Friday's bullpen was Kelly's second this week, marking a significant advancement in his rehab from a right shoulder strain. He's been sidelined since May 6 due to the issue and will almost certainly require a rehab assignment, which could come soon. Prior to the injury, Kelly hadn't allowed a run in 11 of 12 appearances, but he owns a 4.73 ERA on the year. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • Clayton Kershaw to make rehab start on Wednesday
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) will make his first minor league rehab start at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday.

Advice: Kershaw made it through another simulated game without issue on Thursday, so this was seemingly the most obvious next step for him. The 36-year-old hurler is going to need several outings there to build up his stamina and is expected to be ready to join the Dodgers’ rotation at some point around the All-Star break. • Another bullpen on tap
Faedo (hip) is scheduled to throw another bullpen session Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: Faedo said he felt "really good" Thursday after completing his first bullpen session since being placed on the injured list June 5. With another bullpen coming Sunday, Faedo seems likely to begin a rehab stint in the near future and could be back with the Tigers by the end of June. Rotowire.com 51 minutes ago

  • Opening against Rockies
Mlodzinksi will start Friday's game against Colorado as an opener, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Advice: Mlodzinski last pitched Wednesday, yielding one run in two innings against the Cardinals and hasn't gone deeper than two innings in an appearance this season. Luis Ortiz threw 4.1 innings in bulk relief after Mlodzinski's opened June 8 against Minnesota and Ortiz hasn't pitched since, making him an ideal candidate to follow Mlodzinski on Friday. • Resuming assignment
Mata (hamstring) will resume his rehab assignment at Double-A Portland on Friday or Saturday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Advice: Mata remains without a clear return timeline, but he appears to be trending in the right direction since being pulled off his assignment in May due to shoulder/lat soreness. The 25-year-old righty has been on the IL all season, and because he is out of minor-league options, he would either need to join the big-league roster or be designated for assignment upon returning. • Could join Brewers next week
Junis (shoulder) will pitch another sim game in Arizona on Monday and could join the Brewers afterward, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Brewers embark on a seven-game West Coast trip Monday, playing three-games in Los Angeles and four in San Diego. Already in Arizona, Junis could rejoin the team during that stretch, though it's unclear if he'd immediately return to the rotation or would be eased in from the bullpen. The 31-year-old was moved to Arizona from Triple-A Nashville due to velocity concerns and most recently threw a four-inning simulated game Wednesday. Rotowire.com Today, 2:49 pm

  • Takes loss Friday
Wesneski (2-4) allowed a solo home run in an inning of relief work to take the loss Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Wesneski allowed the first run of the game in the eighth inning, a solo shot by Pedro Pages, then got saddled with the loss as the Cubs got blanked 3-0. Despite the hiccup, the 26-year-old has been solid this season as he's settled into a relief role for Chicago, posting a 2.84 ERA and 34 strikeouts across 38 innings. • White Sox option Jordan Leasure to Triple-A
White Sox optioned RHP Jordan Leasure to Triple-A Charlotte.

Advice: The White Sox’ bullpen as a whole this season has been an absolute trainwreck, and while Leasure has some of the best pure stuff in the group, he hasn’t been immune to the struggles. The 25-year-old hurler has registered a 4.08 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a 26/17 K/BB ratio over 28 2/3 innings on the season — but gave up four runs in a brutal loss to the Mariners on Monday night. Still, he’s probably one of the best options that they have, so this move is a bit perplexing. Rotoworld Today, 2:44 pm
  • Looks sharp Friday
Hendricks tossed 4.1 scoreless innings of relief in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Cardinals. He allowed two hits and struck out one.

Advice: Chicago starter Jordan Hicks departed after just 1.2 innings due to an oblique injury, which pushed Hendricks into action. The veteran responded well and had perhaps his best outing of the season, giving the Cubs some much-needed length out of the bullpen. While Hendricks still has an ugly 8.20 ERA overall, he's been better lately with 8.2 scoreless innings over his last three appearances. However, Hendricks still has limited fantasy appeal in his current long-relief role. Rotowire.com Today, 2:38 pm
