    • Smacks 14th homer
Reynolds went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Reynolds took Andre Pallante deep on the first pitch of the fourth, providing the only run for the Pirates until the 10th inning. Reynolds has found his power stroke, with six of his 14 home runs this season coming over his last 18 games. He has kept up his hot hitting since the beginning of June, slashing .319/.372/.588 with seven homers and 18 RBI over his last 29 games. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago

    • Bryan Reynolds swats solo homer in extra-inning loss
Bryan Reynolds homered in an extra-inning loss to the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: Reynolds swatted a solo homer off Andre Pallante to tie the game at 1-1 in the fourth inning. The outfielder has homered 14 times while driving in 48 runs thus far in 2023. It was the only hit of the game for Reynolds, but his .273/.338/.466 slash is solid, and he was much better than that in June with a .330/.388/.504 slash in that month. • Anthony Volpe out of the leadoff spot Thursday
Anthony Volpe is batting sixth on Thursday against the Reds.

Advice: It’s the first time since April 10th that Volpe will be in the lineup and not be leading off. However, it appears to be a move that was a long time coming. Since Volpe moved into the leadoff spot, he has had the worst on-base percentage among every Yankees player with at least 250 plate appearances. He also ranks as the third-worst leadoff hitter in baseball with his 87 wRC+. Considering the Yankees’ lead-off hitter bats in front of Juan Soto and Aaron Judge, the team needs somebody who can consistently get on base and be driven in by those two studs. Ben Rice will get that shot on Thursday. Rotoworld Today, 8:16 am

    • Demoted to sixth in batting order
Volpe will start at shortstop and bat sixth in Thursday's game against the Reds.

Advice: It's the first time since April 9 that Volpe has hit anywhere other than leadoff. After a productive first two months of the season, Volpe has slashed just .211/.228/.301 with a 33:3 K:BB over 136 plate appearances since June 1. Ben Rice will get a shot in the leadoff spot Thursday. Rotowire.com Today, 7:12 am

    • Dazzles in return to mound
Kremer (4-4) picked up the win over the Mariners on Wednesday, allowing two hits and two walks over five shutout innings while striking out eight.

Advice: Kremer was fantastic in his return to the mound, striking out six of the first 12 batters he faced while inducing 16 swings and misses over five frames. Fresh off the 15-day injured list (triceps), the right-hander was faced with a difficult task against a tough Mariners team on the road. However, he came through in a big way and lowered his season ERA from 4.32 to 3.93 with the shutout performance. Kremer has now fanned at least six batters in three of his last four starts, dating back to May 5 against the Reds. Rotowire.com Today, 6:21 am
    • Returning to bench Thursday
Martinez is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Martinez returned to action Wednesday after missing one game due to ankle soreness, but he'll head back to the bench for Thursday's 11:05 AM ET start. DJ Stewart will bat fifth as the designated hitter in the series finale at Washington. Rotowire.com Today, 6:12 am

    • Notched first MLB steal
Wood went 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base in a 7-5 win against the Mets on Wednesday.

Advice: Wood was just 1-for-7 over his first two big-league games before notching his first multi-hit performance Wednesday. He also picked up his first big-league run, RBI and stolen base in the contest. Wood showed that he can come through in the clutch, as his seventh-inning RBI single broke a 5-5 tie and proved to be the decisive knock in Washington's win. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:48 pm
    • Dean Kremer strikes out eight in win over Mariners
Dean Kremer tossed five scoreless innings with eight strikeouts in a win over the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Kremer was excellent in his first start off the injured list after missing over a month with a triceps issue. He scattered two hits and two walks over five shutout innings, striking out eight batters on 16 whiffs. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 3.93 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and a 57/20 K/BB ratio across 55 innings into a start against the Cubs in Baltimore on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:41 pm
    • Yields three runs in loss
Hicks (4-5) allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out six over five innings, taking the loss versus Atlanta on Wednesday.

Advice: Hicks is winless in his last eight outings, going 0-4 with a 5.02 ERA in that span. He's walked multiple batters in six of those starts, though Wednesday was the fourth time in that span that he's avoided giving up a home run. Hicks is at a 3.47 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 82:35 K:BB through 90.2 innings over 18 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home against one of his former teams, the Blue Jays.
