      Advice: The first baseman banged out singles in each of his first four plate appearances, with the last one bringing home two runs in the sixth inning to tie the game at 8-8 after the Blue Jays had fallen behind 7-1 in the top of the third. Guerrero has four multi-hit performances in the last five games, a stretch in which he's gone 11-for-21 (.524) with a homer and eight RBI.       Yainer Diaz went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and an RBI as the Astros fell to the Tigers on Saturday night in Detroit.

      Advice: Diaz delivered a run-scoring single off of Tarik Skubal in the fourth inning that pulled the Astros to within five runs at 7-2. That would be as close as they would get.     • Vladdy Jr. has four hits, three RBI, SB vs. Twins
      Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 4-for-5, drove in three runs and stole a base in a 10-8 win for the Blue Jays on Saturday over the Twins.

      Advice: Vladdy Jr. did it all Saturday in the come-from-behind win. The first baseman has swung the bat much more effectively as of late, and his OPS has risen to .751 after hovering around .700 for much of the season.       Luis Arraez hit a walk-off RBI single to give the Padres a 2-1 win over the Dodgers on Friday.

      Advice: With the score tied 1-1, Arraez picked up his first game-winning hit as a member of the Padres with a single to score Tyler Wade off Michael Grove. The 27-year-old has just seven RBI in his time with the Marlins and San Diego, but he should have more chances to drive in runs — even at the top of the lineup — now that he’s not playing for one of the worst teams in baseball.     • Report: Royals reached out to ask for Arraez
      The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reports that the Royals contacted the Marlins last week to discuss trading for Luis Arraez before the infielder was dealt to the Padres

      Advice: Rosenthal was quick to note that those talks “never advanced beyond the preliminary stage"; however, it’s interesting that the Royals even made the phone call because it tells us that the team is looking to capitalize on their fast start to the season which sees them just 2.5 games behind the Guardians in the AL Central. However, another interesting aspect of this is where the Royals may be looking to upgrade. Michael Massey has been pretty good at second base since coming off the IL and Vinnie Pasquantino is locked in at first base, so the Royals must have felt that Arraez could fill the DH spot, which means either Nelson Velazquez or Hunter Renfroe could be on notice in the midst of a slow start to the season.
