    • Rebounds for 14th save
Holmes earned the save in Thursday's 5-0 win over Seattle, allowing two hits while striking out a pair in 1.1 innings.

Advice: Holmes came on in relief in the eighth after Nick Burdi loaded the bases. He'd induce a grounder off the bat of Luke Raley for the final out before working around a pair of singles in the ninth to earn his 14th save. It's a nice bounce-back effort from Holmes, after he allowed four runs in a blown save against Seattle on Monday, the first four runs he's allowed this season. Overall, the 31-year-old right-hander sports a 1.64 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB across 22 innings this year. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago

    • Takes loss against Red Sox
Adam (2-1) allowed two earned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one across one inning to take the loss Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Adam entered the game in the eighth inning with the score tied, 2-2. He settled in after allowing the first three batters he faced to reach base, though he was unable to recover from his early struggles. The outing snapped a seven-appearance scoreless stretch, and Adam has been excellent overall this season by maintaining a 2.05 ERA and 1.00 WHIP across 22 innings to go along with three saves and 10 holds. • Loses perfect ERA
Holmes (1-1) allowed four runs on four hits and two walks while taking a loss against the Mariners on Monday. He blew a save chance and recorded only two outs.

Advice: Holmes entered Monday with zero earned runs allowed through 20 innings this season. Seattle chipped away at him with singles and walks to plate four runs and take the lead in the ninth inning. Holmes' ERA jumped to 1.74 as he was handed his first loss of the year. He's converted 13 of his 15 save chances while registering a 23:6 K:BB through 20.2 innings. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:24 pm

    • Holmes blows second save Monday
Clay Holmes blew his second save of the season against the Mariners on Monday.

Advice: Holmes hadn’t allowed an earned run all season. He entered with a 4-1 lead against the Mariners. After a Josh Rojas ground to begin the ninth inning, the floodgates opened. Julio Rodriguez hit an infield single. Cal Raleigh walked. Luke Raley hit an infield single and Gleyber Torres threw the ball into the Yankees dugout to make it 4-2. Mitch Haniger singled to center to make it 4-3. Dylan Moore walked. Dominic Canzone hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game and Ty France singled on a ground ball to give the Mariners the lead. In all, Holmes allowed four earned runs and only recorded two outs without allowing any hard contact. His ERA is up to 1.74 on the season.

    • Pitches through illness
Hicks (4-1) allowed a run on three hits and a walk while striking out one over five innings to earn the win Sunday over the Rockies.

Advice: Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports Hicks threw up his pregame meal. The right-hander also experienced diminished velocity -- all of his pitches were down between 2.4 and 3.6 mph from his season averages in Sunday's start, so it's obvious he wasn't at full strength. He still landed 49 of 72 pitches for strikes and gave up just a first-inning home run to Ryan McMahon, while the Giants' bullpen picked him up with four hitless innings. Hicks has gone past five innings in just three of his 10 starts this year, but he's done well with a 2.38 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 40:17 K:BB over 53 innings. It's not odd that the Giants may be managing his innings carefully since he's never exceeded 77.2 innings in a major-league campaign. There's no reason to worry about Hicks missing his next projected start -- on the road versus the Mets -- at this time. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:01 pm

    • Jordan Hicks’ velocity is way down in win
Jordan Hicks allowed one run on three hits in five innings in a win over the Rockies on Sunday.

Advice: The big news here is that Hicks averaged just 91.7 mph on his sinker after averaging 95.3 mph on the year. In fact, he was down 2.5 mph or more on every single one of his pitches in this start, which is part of the reason why he struck out just one batter. Of course, because he was facing the Rockies, he wasn’t saddled with that much damage. It will be interesting to hear what the Giants have to say about the performance or if it was just an off night for the oft-injured right-hander. Provided he’s healthy, he would have another good start lined up against the Mets next week. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:46 pm

    • Secures fourth save
Fairbanks struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his fourth save of the season in a 4-3 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: The right-hander needed only six pitches (five strikes) to dispatch the heart of Toronto's order, setting down Bo Bichette, Vladimir Guerrero and Justin Turner. Fairbanks still isn't quite flashing his usual velocity -- he topped out at 97.3 mph with his fastball Friday after averaging 98.9 mph in 2023 -- but he hasn't seemed to miss the extra gear since coming off the IL, firing four straight hitless, scoreless appearances with a 6:0 K:BB. • Notches 13th save
Holmes walked one and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his 13th save of the season in a 4-2 win over the White Sox.

Advice: The right-hander is back in a four-way tie for the league lead in saves with Emmanuel Clase, Kyle Finnegan and Ryan Helsley, but Holmes is the only one of the quartet who still sports a 0.00 ERA. The closer's luck on that front will run out eventually, but his 0.98 WHIP and 23:4 K:BB through 19.1 innings highlight how dominant he's been to this point. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:21 am

    • Peter Fairbanks earns fourth save on Friday
Peter Fairbanks worked a clean ninth inning striking out one Blue Jays on Friday for his fourth save.

Advice: Fairbanks finally saved his first game since returning from the IL. He’s allowed no earned runs with six strikeouts across four innings and looks back to his normal, dominant self. Rotoworld Friday, 7:51 pm
