• Returns to lineup Friday
Raley (lat) is starting in left field and batting eighth Friday against the Angels.

Advice: Lat soreness prevented Raley from starting during Thursday's loss to the Astros, but the issue appears to have subsided prior to Friday's contest. The 29-year-old outfielder is slashing .292/.346/.486 since the beginning of May, but he has been in a slump recently, tallying just one hit in 19 at-bats while striking out 10 times in his last seven games. • Athletics outright Tyler Nevin to Triple-A
Athletics sent INF Tyler Nevin outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Nevin was designated for assignment on Tuesday and cleared waivers. He hit .220 with four home runs in 40 games for the Athletics. Nevin slumped badly in May going 3-for-47 (.064) with one home run. He’ll look to get his bat going again in Triple-A. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:00 pm

  • Outrighted by A's
Nevin was outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday

Advice: Nevin will stick in Oakland's organization after being DFA'd on Tuesday. He'll look to get his confidence back after going 1-for-43 at the dish with the A's before losing his roster spot. If he turns things around, Nevin could make his way back to the big leagues considering he batted .316 with three homers in April before falling into the slump. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:46 pm

  • Sitting again
Davis is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: Davis will miss a third consecutive game Friday -- each of which has come against right-handed pitching. Considering the 31-year-old has been significantly better against southpaws, he could slip into the short side of a platoon. Tyler Soderstrom will fill in at the cold corner and bat eighth. • Mike Ford elects free agency on Friday
Reds 1B Mike Ford has elected free agency.

Advice: Ford was designated for assignment on Wednesday, but won’t report to the minor leagues. The 31-year-old journeyman first baseman hit .150 with one home run in 17 games for the Reds. He’ll hope to catch on with another team. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:52 am

  • Hitting open market
Ford didn't accept his assignment to Triple-A Louisville and will become a free agent, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Ford's three-week stint with the Reds came to an end when he was outrighted to Louisville on Wednesday. Instead of remaining in the organization, Ford will forego the remainder of his salary and will enter free agency. He slashed .150/.177/.233 in 62 plate appearances with Cincinnati. • Busch out of lineup Friday
Michael Busch is not in the Cubs’ lineup for their game against the Reds on Friday.

Advice: The Cubs are using Cody Bellinger at first base, Mike Tauchman at DH with Ian Happ, Pete Crow-Armstrong, and Seiya Suzuki in the outfield. Busch takes his turn on the bench Friday. With Crow-Armstrong back in the majors, the Cubs lineup is getting crowded. Busch is hitting .241 with eight home runs in 53 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:31 am

  • Absent from Friday's lineup
Busch is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Reds.

Advice: It sounds like the Cubs plan to play Pete Crow-Armstrong in center field more often after they recalled him from Triple-A Iowa on Thursday. That will mean more Cody Bellinger in right field and at first base, where he is playing Friday. Busch could have his playing time dip as a result. The rookie infielder had a stretch in mid-April when he homered in five straight games, but in 37 contests since then he's slashed just .202/.296/.316 with two homers and a 38.6 percent strikeout rate. • Looks like everyday third baseman
Vientos is expected to serve as the Mets' everyday third baseman after the club optioned Brett Baty to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Baty had started at third base in four of the Mets' previous five matchups versus right-handed pitchers, but the 24-year-old was unable to break out of his extended slump at the plate. He ends his time on the Mets' 26-man active roster having hit just .132 over his last 15 games, leaving Vientos as the big club's top option at the hot corner against both right- and left-handed pitching. Though he's an inferior defender compared to Baty, Vientos has been the far more effective hitter of the two at the big-league level this season, posting a .945 OPS over 48 plate appearances for the Mets. With Baty at least temporarily removed from the mix and a path to regular at-bats having been cleared up, Vientos makes for a worthy pickup for fantasy managers seeking an infusion of power.
