• J.P. Crawford (oblique) taking grounders Monday
J.P. Crawford (oblique) is taking grounders before Monday’s game against Atlanta.

Advice: Crawford is expected to miss 2-3 weeks with his oblique injury, but it’s a positive development that the 29-year-old is taking part in infield practice before Monday’s game. It’s very likely that Crawford will need a rehab assignment before returning to the Seattle lineup late in May. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:25 pm

  • Swats first homer Sunday
Rengifo went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run in Sunday's loss to Minnesota.

Advice: Rengifo's two-run blast was a key part of a four-run fifth inning for the Halos, but Minnesota pulled away late to drop the Angels' record to 10-18. Rengifo has been a locked-in part of the team's lineup of late, starting five straight games at either second or third base. Since April 17, the utility man is slashing .343/.425/.514 with one homer, five RBI, six runs and three stolen bases over 11 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:11 pm

  • Austin Martin optioned to Triple-A by Twins
Twins optioned INF Austin Martin to Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: Martin appeared in 22 games with the Twins before the demotion and hit .226 with a .665 OPS over 62 at-bats. Because of his positional versatility, there’s a good chance he’s back with the Twins before the season comes to an end. Carlos Correa is off the injured list in the corresponding move. • Gets fourth straight start
Farmer will start at second base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: Farmer is included in the lineup for a fourth straight game, but his ongoing presence in the starting nine is a byproduct of the Twins facing three left-handed starting pitchers during that stretch. The 33-year-old is still expected to hit the bench when the Twins oppose right-handers more often than not. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:37 pm

  • Blaze Alexander batting lead-off for Diamondbacks
Blaze Alexander is making his first start in the leadoff spot in the lineup on Monday, starting at designated hitter against the Dodgers.

Advice: Jake McCarthy has been hitting lead-off for Arizona over the last week, but he doesn’t play against left-handed pitchers. The last time he sat, it was Ketel Marte who hit lead-off, but today the Diamondbacks will give Alexander a chance. The rookie is slashing .322/.385/.559 with three home runs, 10 runs scored, and 13 RBI in 20 games this season. If he’s now going to also lead-off against left-handed pitching then his value gets another nice little boost. Randal Grichuk is starting for McCarthy in right field and batting sixth against James Paxton. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:23 pm

  • Sent to Triple-A
The Twins optioned Martin to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday.

Advice: As anticipated, Martin will forfeit his spot on the 26-man active roster with the Twins reinstating Carlos Correa (intercostal) from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Martin's demotion should clear the way for Trevor Larnach to man left field on an everyday basis, at least against right-handed pitching. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:55 am

  • Expected to head to minors
The Twins are expected to option Martin to Triple-A St. Paul ahead of Monday's game against the White Sox, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Shortstop Carlos Correa (oblique) is on track to come off the 10-day injured list Monday, and Martin looks like he'll move off the 26-man active roster in a corresponding move. Martin has been a near-everyday player for Minnesota since being called up from Triple-A on March 30 while slashing .226/.294/.371 across 68 plate appearances, but the Twins aren't expected to have regular at-bats available for both him and Trevor Larnach with Correa back in the fold and with Max Kepler recently coming off the IL. As a result, Martin will be the odd man out and head back to Triple-A, while Larnach should continue to play regularly versus right-handed pitching. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:19 am

  • Pablo Reyes designated for assignment
Red Sox have designated INF Pablo Reyes for assignment.

Advice: The Red Sox needed to make a move to the active roster in order to make room for recently acquired Garrett Cooper. With Ceddanne Rafaela now a full-time infielder and Vaughn Grissom on his way back from the injured list, Reyes was less needed in Boston. The 30-year-old is hitting .183/.234/.217 in 64 plate appearances with five RBI and one steal. There is a chance that he latches on with somebody else as versatile infield depth. • Exits 40-man roster
The Red Sox designated Reyes for assignment Monday.

Advice: Boston needed to clear a spot on their 26-man active roster and 40-man roster for first baseman/designated hitter Garrett Cooper, and Reyes ended up being the casualty. Reyes slashed a solid .287/.339/.377 for Boston last season but has managed just a .183/.234/.217 batting line over 61 plate appearances in 2024. Teams are always looking for versatile players, so even with his poor start, Reyes could draw some interest via trade or waivers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:15 am
