• Twins likely to option Edouard Julien to Triple-A
The Twins are expected to option struggling infielder Edouard Julien to Triple-A St. Paul prior to Tuesday’s series opener against the Yankees in New York.

Advice: The 25-year-old infielder had a closed-door meeting with skipper Rocco Baldelli after Sunday’s game and was then seen getting hugs and handshakes from teammates. Take that as you will, but someone needs to be sent out to make room for the return of Royce Lewis on Tuesday and all signs point to Julien. He’s hitting just .207/.309/.367 on the season, though he does have seven homers, 17 RBI and six stolen bases. Fantasy managers who may have been relying on him for next week should make other arrangements. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:18 pm
  • Davis Schneider with two more hits
Davis Schneider went 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI on Sunday against the Pirates.

Advice: Schneider came around to score on Daniel Vogelbach’s go-ahead, two-run double and seems to be in the middle of most Blue Jays rallies at this point. Their lineup has found more life since anointing him their permanent lead-off hitter and it would be shocking to see him out of that role any time soon. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:12 pm

  • Demotion could be coming
Julien had a meeting with manager Rocco Baldelli and subsequently met with teammates after Sunday's win over the Astros, which could indicate the second baseman is headed to Triple-A St. Paul as Royce Lewis (quadriceps) is set to return from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Julien hit out of the No. 9 hole Sunday and went 0-for-2 with a walk, which dropped his season slash line to .207/.309/.367 through 58 games. The 25-year-old has a 34 percent strikeout rate this year, and the return of Lewis provides an opportunity for Julien to get back on track in a lower-pressure environment. The Twins have yet to make an official announcement regarding Lewis and who he'll replace on the MLB roster. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:12 pm
  • Wenceel Pérez collects three hits in Tigers’ win
Wenceel Pérez finished 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored Sunday as the Tigers topped the Red Sox 8-4 in 10 innings.

Advice: The second run came as the automatic runner in the 10th. Each time it’s looked like Pérez’s hot start to his big-league career might be coming to a conclusion, he bounces back with something like this. The 24-year-old had gone 6-for-40 with one RBI in his previous 10 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:07 pm

  • Going through concussion protocol
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Mateo is going through the concussion protocol after exiting Sunday's game versus the Rays, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Mateo was struck in the head by the bat of teammate Cedric Mullins around the on-deck circle and was subsequently removed from the contest. It remains to be seen if Mateo will miss additional time, and he should be considered day-to-day as he continues to be evaluated. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:49 pm

  • Jorge Mateo placed in concussion protocol Sunday
Orioles’ manager Brandon Hyde told reporters after Sunday’s game that Jorge Mateo is in the concussion protocol.

Advice: The 28-year-old was hit in the head by Cedric Mullins’ bat in the on-deck circle during Sunday’s contest against the Rays. He’ll have to pass through the concussion protocol before he’s able to return to game action. That’s probably going to cost him at least a couple of days, and it’s possible that he winds up on the 7-day concussion injured list. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:36 pm

  • Ildemaro Vargas with two hits, stolen base
Ildemaro Vargas went 2-for-3 scoring a run, driving one in, and stealing a base Sunday in a win over the Guardians.

Advice: Vargas drew his second straight spot-start after CJ Abrams tweaked his shoulder on Friday and had a great all-around game. It’s unlikely his role grows unless Abrams needs a spell on the IL. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:09 pm

  • Picking up rare start Sunday
Trejo will start at second base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Trejo will crack the starting nine for the first time since May 24 while everyday second baseman Brendan Rodgers gets a day out of the field and serves as the Rockies' designated hitter. Though he's been on the active roster since Opening Day, Trejo has made just 12 starts in 58 games and has logged only 34 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:48 pm

  • Hitting bench Sunday
Moore is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Advice: Moore will take a seat in the series finale after he went 1-for-14 with eight strikeouts while starting each of the past four games at either second base or third base. While he remains in the mix for steady playing at the keystone with Jorge Polanco (hamstring) on the injured list, Moore looks to be slowing down at the plate after a hot run over the first three weeks of May. Dating back to May 23, Moore is slashing .103/.297/.138 over a stretch of nine games. If Moore's struggles continue, Ryan Bliss could end up unseating him as the preferred option at second base.
