• Dodgers acquire Jose Hernández from Pirates
Dodgers acquired LHP Jose Hernández from the Pirates for cash considerations.

Advice: Hernández winds up back with the Dodgers, who lost him to the Pirates a couple years ago in the Rule 5 Draft, shortly after being removed from Pittsburgh’s 40-man roster earlier this week. The 26-year-old lefty holds a respectable 4.82 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 66/26 K/BB ratio across 56 innings (57 appearances) over the last two seasons in the majors. He’ll augment Los Angeles’ organizational relief depth moving forward. Rotoworld Today, 7:21 pm

  • Dodgers transfer Ryan Brasier to 60-day IL
Dodgers transferred RHP Ryan Brasier to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The procedural move opens up a spot on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster to claim reliever Jose Hernández from the Pirates. Brasier has been on the shelf since late April recovering from a right calf strain. Rotoworld Today, 7:20 pm

  • Pirates outright Ben Heller to Triple-A
Pirates sent RHP Ben Heller outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: Heller passed through waivers unclaimed and will presumably stick around with Pittsburgh as emergency organizational relief depth. The 32-year-old righty has been torched for a staggering 12 runs (11 earned) over two innings of work in a pair of relief outings this season for the Pirates. Rotoworld Today, 4:39 pm

  • Rehab picking up
Borucki (wrist) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The session marked Borucki's first time throwing off a slope since hitting the injured list. He has additional bullpens set for Saturday and Tuesday, after which he may be ready to begin a rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Today, 4:38 pm

  • Michael Grove starting bullpen game on Thursday
Michael Grove will start on Thursday against the Rangers.

Advice: Grove draws the starting assignment to kick-off a bullpen game for Los Angeles with Yoshinobu Yamamoto being pushed back to take the ball on Saturday against the Royals after throwing a season-high 108 pitches his last time out. Rotoworld Today, 3:00 pm

  • Hunter Stratton dealing with shoulder tightness
Hunter Stratton was removed from Thursday’s relief appearance against the Cardinals due to right shoulder tightness.

Advice: Pirates manager Derek Shelton told reporters afterwards that Stratton was experiencing some shoulder tightness and the club didn’t want to take any chances. He’s currently undergoing additional testing and there should be some clarity on his status in the coming days. It seems likely he’ll wind up requiring a trip to the injured list, but anything is possible. Rotoworld Today, 2:40 pm

  • Alec Marsh takes no-no into seventh versus Yankees
Alec Marsh allowed only a single over seven scoreless innings Thursday against the Yankees.

Advice: Marsh, who came into the day having given up 14 earned runs in his previous three starts, took a no-hitter into the seventh before giving up a single to Juan Soto. He ended up with seven strikeouts and two walks. Alas, he didn’t factor into the decision after John Schreiber blew a two-run lead in the eighth. Rotoworld Today, 2:27 pm

  • John Schreiber takes blown save in eighth
John Schreiber took a blown save after allowing three runs — one earned — in the eighth inning Thursday against the Yankees.

Advice: All three of the runs were originally declared earned, but that would have been a farce, as Austin Wells was initially given a single on what was a clear error from Garrett Hampson at second base. Schreiber has been making a case to take over the closer’s role from James McArthur in Kansas City, but today was a clear setback in that regard, especially after McArthur pitched a scoreless ninth and wound up with a win. • Flirts with no-hitter vs. Yankees
Marsh came away with a no-decision in Thursday's 4-3 win versus the Yankees. He threw seven shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out seven.

Advice: Marsh took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before giving up a leadoff single to Juan Soto. Despite the bullpen failing to hold the lead, it was still the longest no-hit bid by a Royals pitcher this season. The 26-year-old righty dazzled his first two trips through the Yankees' potent lineup, and four of the seven strikeouts he recorded were against Soto and Aaron Judge. Marsh has been a solid rotation piece for the Royals this year with a 3.63 ERA through 12 outings, and he currently lines up to make his next start in Oakland next week. Rotowire.com Today, 2:01 pm
