• Idle Friday, more AB's coming
Singleton is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Tigers but should get most of the at-bats at first base moving forward, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: With Jose Abreu off the roster, Singleton should be the clear-cut option at first base for the Astros, but he'll take a seat Friday with lefty Tarik Skubal on the mound for Detroit. Manager Dana Brown indicated Friday that Houston could look to acquire another first baseman unless Singleton "takes the bull by the horn," but Singleton should take the lion's share of first base work for the time being. Singleton is slashing .213/.316/.333 on the year but is 7-for-37 (.189) against LHP. Mauricio Dubon will play first and bat sixth Friday. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago

  • Jon Singleton to see bulk of action at first base
Astros’ general manager Dana Brown told reporters on Friday that Jon Singleton will see the bulk of the action at first base following the release of Jose Abreu.

Advice: Brown also noted that Singleton probably won’t play against most left-handers, in which case Mauricio Dubon would see short-side platoon at-bats there. I don’t know what it’s going to take for Joey Loperfido to get an opportunity to play first base for the Astros, but they seem to be doing everything in their power to avoid putting him there. Singleton is hitting just .213/.316/.333 with five homers and 14 RBI in 174 plate appearances on the season. Rotoworld Today, 1:16 pm

  • Optioned to Triple-A
The White Sox optioned DeLoach to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

Advice: DeLoach has gone just 3-for-22 with nine strikeouts during his brief time in the big leagues this season. He wasn't going to be seeing much action with Tommy Pham back from the injured list, so he'll head back to Charlotte where he will play regularly. Rotowire.com Today, 12:57 pm
  • Returns from injured list
The White Sox activated Pham (ankle) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Advice: Pham wound up being sidelined just a little over the minimum 10 days with a sprained left ankle. With Luis Robert now back to handle center field duties for the White Sox, Pham should see the bulk of his action in right field. Rotowire.com Today, 12:54 pm
  • Idle Friday
Stubbs is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Baltimore.

Advice: Stubbs will give way to Rafael Marchan for the second time in four games despite a right-handed pitcher on the mound for the Orioles. It seems as though Stubbs and Marchan will be in a near 50-50 split behind the plate while J.T. Realmuto (knee) is sidelined. Rotowire.com Today, 12:53 pm
  • Sitting versus southpaw
Gordon is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Nationals.

Advice: Left-hander MacKenzie Gore is the Nationals' starting pitcher for this one, so the lefty-hitting Gordon will take a seat. Bryan De La Cruz is in left field. Rotowire.com Today, 12:44 pm

  • Out against left-hander
Sanchez is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Nationals.

Advice: As usual, Sanchez is taking a seat versus a lefty as MacKenzie Gore toes the slab for the Nationals. Dane Myers will patrol right field for the Marlins. Rotowire.com Today, 12:43 pm
  • Rehab assignment next week
Abreu (ankle) is likely to begin a rehab assignment next week, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Abreu has been upping his workouts this week and is days away from testing out his right ankle in game action. He's less than two weeks removed from suffered his ankle sprain, so Abreu shouldn't need many rehab at-bats before rejoining the Red Sox' roster. Rotowire.com Today, 12:36 pm

  • Tommy Pham (ankle) likely to return on Friday
Tommy Pham (ankle) is expected to return for Friday’s series opener against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Pham is technically already there since he’s been playing in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League over the last few days. The 36-year-old outfielder has been on the shelf since early June with a left ankle sprain. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:50 pm
