    • Kody Clemens (back) to go on rehab assignment
Kody Clemens, out since May 31 with back spasms, is expected to begin a rehab assignment later this week.

Advice: According to The Athletic’s Matt Gelb, the Phillies play to play Clemens regularly in left field during his time in the minors. He was a nice surprise in limited action for the Phillies before getting hurt, batting .256/.293/.615 in 41 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 10:06 am

    • Alex Kirilloff set to see back specialst
Alex Kirilloff, now on the major league IL, said the Twins knew about his back problem before sending him down last week and that he had an MRI back on May 26.

Advice: This definitely wasn’t a case of a player hiding an injury and admitting to it after getting sent down; Kirilloff had been receiving daily treatment before games. Still, the Twins were upset that Kirilloff didn’t communicate of the severity of the problem, which he says has made it difficult for him to rotate on swings. Kirilloff wanted to keep playing through it in the majors, but after he was sent down to Triple-A, he decided it was better to shut it down for a spell, and he’s now set to see a back specialist. • Doubles in majors return
Nevin, summoned from Triple-A Las Vegas earlier in the day, went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run in a 7-5 win over the Royals on Tuesday.

Advice: Nevin wasted no time carrying over the momentum he'd built up while toiling for the Aviators in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, lacing his fourth two-bagger of the season one inning after drawing a free pass and coming around to score on Zack Gelof's three-run home run. Nevin drew the start at third base Tuesday and could work himself into some fairly regular playing time at either corner infield spot or designated hitter if he continues to swing a hot bat. • Heading to bench Wednesday
Flores is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: Flores has now hit the bench in two straight matchups with right-handed pitchers, though it's not yet clear if he's moved back into a pure platoon role at first base with the lefty-hitting Trenton Brooks, who gets the start Wednesday but is hitting .143 over 21 at-bats since getting called up from Triple-A Sacramento. Flores, meanwhile, is hitting .212 on the season, and he owns a .198/.291/.287 slash line over 117 plate appearances against righties. Rotowire.com Today, 8:41 am

    • On base thrice in return
France (heel), activated from the injured list earlier in the day, started at first base in Tuesday's win over the Guardians and went 0-for-2 with three walks and a run.

Advice: While there was no big hit to commemorate the veteran's return from a minimum-length stay on the IL, France was a thorn in the side of Guardians pitching all night with his constant trips on the basepaths. Now apparently back to full health, France heads into the home stretch of June carrying an outstanding .295/.456/.523 slash line with six extra-base hits and 10 RBI in his last 15 games (57 plate appearances). • Makes 11th straight start
Duran started at third base and went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Mets.

Advice: Duran was in the starting lineup for the 11th consecutive game and the 17th time in the last 18 contests. He's filled in at first base against left-handers, then helped cover the left side of the infield, where Corey Seager and Josh Smith have battled injuries. Smith returned as the designated hitter Tuesday, which could spell the end of Duran's streak in the starting nine. Eventually, when third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) returns, there will be a reduction in Duran's opportunities. Rotowire.com Today, 5:33 am

    • Racks up three hits
Schanuel went 3-for-4 with a double, one walk and one RBI in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Schanuel is starting to get in a groove at the plate, going 11-for-24 (.458) over his last seven games. That's a big improvement after he opened June 2-for-25 across seven contests. The first baseman is at a .233/.313/.362 slash line with eight home runs, 25 RBI, 24 runs scored, one stolen base and six doubles through 65 games overall. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:35 pm

    • Clubs fourth homer
Montero went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 11-9 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Montero has an extra-base hit and at least one RBI in each of his last three games. He began Tuesday's game on the bench but entered early after Charlie Blackmon (hamstring) exited the contest. Montero is at a middling .209/.274/.313 slash line with four homers, 27 RBI, 22 runs scored and 10 doubles over 62 contests this season, though he's hit just .167 (8-for-48) in June. If Blackmon misses additional time, that may allow Montero to be in the lineup more often, as his playing time has started to slip. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:43 pm

    • Gio Urshela drives in lone run for Tigers in loss
Gio Urshela went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Braves.

Advice: Urshela’s RBI single in the top of the sixth gave the Tigers their first run scored on a night where the Tigers struggled to string together hits against Spencer Schwellenbach, who made his best start of the season. Urshela was responsible for one of the Tigers’ five hits on the night and is hitting .304/.365/.413 in the month of June. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:49 pm
