    • JJ Bleday slugs solo homer in loss to Rockies
JJ Bleday went 1-for-5 with a solo homer against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Advice: Bleday took Austin Gomber deep for a solo shot in the fourth inning, putting the A’s only run on the board. The 26-year-old outfielder is having a solid season at the dish for Oakland, slashing .247/.321/.454 with six homers and 19 RBI across 194 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 9:55 pm

    • Gets aboard six times Wednesday
Wade went 3-for-3 with three walks, one RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 9-5 extra-inning win over the Pirates.

Advice: This was Wade's first three-hit game of the year, as well as his second three-walk effort. It's arguably the best example of what he's brought to the table in 2024 -- decent contact hitting and remarkable patience at the plate. Wade is batting .340 with a 19:12 BB:K over 19 games in May. For the season, the first baseman is at a .336/.484/.431 slash line with two home runs, 16 RBI, 20 runs scored, five doubles and one stolen base over 153 plate appearances. Wade briefly saw a full-time role earlier in the month when Jorge Soler was on the injured list, but since Soler's return, Wade has returned to a strong-side platoon with Wilmer Flores at first base. • Knocks homer
Velazquez went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Velazquez had sat out the previous two games, suggesting he could be losing some playing time versus right-handed pitchers. He looked solid against Tigers lefty ace Tarik Skubal, taking him deep in the fourth inning. Velazquez is barring a meager .224 (11-for-49) in May, but he's hit two homers and driven in five runs over his last five games. The outfielder is slashing .226/.295/.368 with four homers, 13 RBI, 20 runs scored, one stolen base and seven doubles over 146 plate appearances this season. He's struggled to consistently tap into power as he did with 17 homers over 53 games a year ago, so it's possible Velazquez could continue to lose playing time to Adam Frazier or Freddy Fermin if he can't turn things around. • Adam Duvall goes yard in win over Cubs
Adam Duvall went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: Duvall put the Braves on the board with a two-run blast off Justin Steele in the third inning. He was later hit by a pitch in the seventh and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ozzie Albies. The 35-year-old outfielder has generally been limited to starts against left-handed pitching. He’s slashing .208/.310/.361 with three homers and 10 RBI across 84 plate appearances. • LaMonte Wade Jr. reaches six times in victory
LaMonte Wade Jr. had an impressive night at the dish in Wednesday’s victory over the Pirates, going 3-for-3 with three singles, three walks, a pair of runs scored and an RBI.

Advice: The 30-year-old outfielder led off the sixth inning with a single and rode home on Matt Chapman’s two-run blast. He then delivered the biggest hit of the game, smacking a game-tying two-out RBI single off of Colin Holderman in the ninth inning. With his three-hit attack, Wade is now hitting .336/.484/.431 with a pair of homers, 16 RBI and a stolen base. Rotoworld Today, 7:06 pm

    • Hitting bench Wednesday
Cave is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Though he'll hit the bench Wednesday against right-hander Mitch Spence, the lefty-hitting Cave could still be included in the lineup versus righties more often than not, at least until Nolan Jones (back) returns from the injured list. Cave looked to be at risk of losing out on playing time when Kris Bryant was activated Tuesday, but Cave started in right field in the Rockies' series-opening loss and went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to seven games. Rather than Cave, Elehuris Montero has been the main loser thus far since Bryant's return, as Montero has sat out twice in a row. Rotowire.com Today, 4:00 pm

    • Sitting against lefty
Tauchman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Tauchman will retreat to the bench Wednesday while southpaw Max Fried takes the hill for Atlanta. He'll indirectly cede his spot in the lineup to infielder Nick Madrigal, who draws the start at third base while Christopher Morel replaces Tauchman as the Cubs' designated hitter. • Day off Wednesday
McCarthy isn't in the Diamondbacks' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: McCarthy will sit down for Wednesday's series finale after going 3-for-8 with a solo homer during the first two games of the series. Randal Grichuk will take over in right field and bat sixth. Rotowire.com Today, 3:40 pm

    • Targeting mid-June return
Mitchell (finger) is aiming to return from the injured list ahead of the Brewers' series against the Angels on June 17, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Mitchell is slated to begin hitting off a tee this weekend while the Brewers are in Boston. After that, he will head to the team's complex in Arizona to continue rehabbing and take at-bats in ACL games before officially beginning a rehab assignment with one of Milwaukee's minor-league affiliates. The 25-year-old outfielder has been on the IL all season due to a fractured finger on his left hand and will have to compete for playing time in a crowded Brewers outfield once he returns.
