    • Early exit in Saturday's loss
Pallante (2-3) took the loss Saturday, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits over 3.1 innings as the Cardinals were downed 5-1 by the Cubs. He struck out four without walking a batter.

Advice: The right-hander didn't pitch badly, blanking Chicago through three innings, but Pallante got lifted after 59 pitches (40 strikes) with two runners on base in the fourth and had to watch Chris Roycroft let them both come around to score. Pallante has been effective in three of four outings since moving into the rotation, posting a 3.64 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB through 17.1 innings over that stretch. He lines up to make his next start at home next week against the Giants. Rotowire.com Today, 5:29 pm

    • Two rehab starts required
Clevinger (elbow) is expected to make two starts at Triple-A Charlotte before returning to the White Sox during a seven-game homestand that begins June 24, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Clevinger is lined up for starts with Charlotte on Tuesday and June 23 and is expected to join the White Sox in the days after his June 23 outing. The 33-year-old was placed on the IL with right elbow inflammation May 28 but has been facing batters since June 7. Once healthy, Clevinger is expected to knock Jonathan Cannon or Drew Thorpe out of the rotation. Rotowire.com Today, 5:12 pm

    • Approaching rehab assignment
Yankees manager Aaron Boone stated early this week that Brubaker (elbow) is "getting ready to go out on an assignment," per MLB.com.

Advice: Brubaker is over 14 months removed from Tommy John surgery and has been throwing to live hitters for about five weeks. The 30-year-old hasn't pitched in a game since the 2022 season, so he'll presumably need a rehab assignment consisting of several starts. Brubaker could be ready to join the big-league club around the All-Star break, but given the success of the team's starting staff thus far and the impending return of Gerrit Cole (elbow), there doesn't appear to be room in the rotation for Brubaker at the moment. • Keaton Winn strikes out six in no-decision vs. Angels
Keaton Winn allowed three runs with six strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision against the Angels on Saturday.

Advice: Winn worked around a double in the first inning, then gave up a solo homer to Mickey Moniak in the second. Winn was hurt by the long ball again in the sixth, serving up a two-run homer to Logan O’Hoppe that tied the game. He’d be done after six with six strikeouts. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 6.66 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and a 46/19 K/BB ratio across 52 2/3 innings into a start against the Cardinals in St. Louis on Thursday. • Trevor Rogers solid over seven in loss to Nats
Trevor Rogers allowed two runs with three strikeouts across seven innings in a loss to the Nationals on Saturday.

Advice: Trevor Rogers had one of his better starts, going a season-high seven innings against the Nationals. He allowed a run in to score in the first inning on a single, double, and sacrifice fly. Lane Thomas later hit a solo homer in the third. Rogers would settle in for four more scoreless frames, but was saddled with a no-decision as the Marlins were shut down by DJ Herz. The 26-year-old left-hander will take a 5.09 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, and a 55/31 K/BB ratio across 69 innings into a start against the Mariners in Miami on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 3:18 pm

    • Carlos Carrasco surrenders five runs in loss
Carlos Carrasco allowed five runs with two strikeouts over five innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Advice: Carrasco started with a clean first inning, then ran into some trouble in the second. The Blue Jays would bring two runs in on a walk and three hits before Carrasco could record an out. He got out of the frame with three runs scored. A walk and a hit made it four runs after four innings. Carrasco hit two batters in the fifth and allowed one more run before his day was done. The 37-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 5.80 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and a 44/21 K/BB ratio across 59 innings. He’ll take on the Blue Jays once again in Cleveland on Friday. • Has Grade 2 oblique strain
Wicks was diagnosed with a Grade 2 oblique strain Saturday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Craig Counsell didn't offer much of a timeline for Wicks' recovery, mentioning only that Wicks was "going to miss some time." However, a Grade 2 sprain likely indicates that Wicks will be sidelined for significantly longer than the minimum 15 days, leaving his rotation spot to Kyle Hendricks for the foreseeable future. Wicks sustained the injury Friday during his first start since April after spending a month on the IL due to a forearm injury. Rotowire.com Today, 2:17 pm

    • Jordan Wicks diagnosed with Grade 2 oblique strain
Jordan Wicks was diagnosed with a Grade 2 right oblique strain.

Advice: That’s certainly not the news that the Cubs were hoping for. Now rather than missing just a couple of weeks, it’s likely that the 24-year-old southpaw will be looking at an extended absence. Kyle Hendricks is expected to hold down Wicks’ spot in the Cubs’ rotation for the foreseeable future. Rotoworld Today, 2:11 pm

    • Andre Pallante gives up two runs in brief outing
Andre Pallante was charged with two runs (one earned) over 3 1/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Pallante turned in a perfect opening frame before engineering a masterful escape after giving up back-to-back hits to open the second inning. He got into trouble in the fourth inning after giving up consecutive hits to open the frame and was lifted for reliever Chris Roycroft after striking out Ian Happ and wound up being charged with a pair of runs following his departure. He struck out four and didn’t hand out a free pass. The 25-year-old righty figures to continue operating in a swingman-type role for the Cardinals moving forward. Rotoworld Today, 1:50 pm
