      Austin Gomber tossed eight innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts in a no-decision against the Athletics on Wednesday.

      Advice: Gomber was excellent against the A’s, holding them to one run over eight innings of work. The one mistake was a solo homer by JJ Bleday in the fourth inning. Gomber scattered four more hits and struck out six batters with no walks allowed. He was saddled with a no-decision after a blown save in the ninth. The 30-year-old left-hander will take an impressive 2.76 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 41/17 K/BB ratio across 58 2/3 innings into a start against the Guardians in Colorado on Monday.       Reynolds went 2-for-5 with a grand slam during Wednesday's 9-5 loss to the Giants in 10 innings.

      Advice: Reynolds clobbered his second-career grand slam Wednesday, bringing Joey Bart, Michael Taylor and Andrew McCutchen in to score and give the Pirates a 5-0 lead.       Pepiot allowed three runs on two hits, four walks and a hit batsman while striking out three over four-plus innings in a no-decision versus the Red Sox on Wednesday.

      Advice: Pepiot returned from a lower left leg contusion that sent him to the injured list. He was cruising through the first four innings, but he put three straight batters on base to begin the fifth. Richard Lovelady couldn't slow down the Boston offense, leaving Pepiot to settle for a no-decision. The 26-year-old right-hander threw just 37 of 66 pitches for strikes in his return from injury. Pepiot now has a 3.98 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB over 40.2 innings across eight starts. It's unclear if his limited workload came from a pitch count or just the natural flow of the game.       Bryan Reynolds clobbered a grand slam in the fourth inning on Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Pirates past the visiting Giants.

      Advice: The Pirates entered the home half of the fourth inning engaged in a scoreless tie. They pushed a run across as Andrew McCutchen was plunked with the bases loaded, then Reynolds greeted Sean Hjelle with a 386-foot (100.1 mph EV) grand slam that made it a 5-0 ballgame. The 29-year-old outfielder also singled in the contest, finishing the night 2-for-5. On the season, he’s now hitting .251/.335/.412 to go with six homers, 26 RBI and four swipes.       Advice: Abreu scalded his home run at 107.1 MPH and has left very little doubt this season that he can hit right-handed pitchers. He’s been in the lineup against every righty since April 9th while facing just three lefties over the same span.       Ryan Pepiot allowed three earned runs across four innings in his return to the Rays’ rotation. He walked four and struck out three against the Red Sox on Wednesday.

      Advice: Pepiot had been on the shelf since May 5th after a Starling Marte line drive struck his leg and sent him to the IL. He was cruising early, but unraveled a bit in the fifth inning allowing the first three batters to reach base before being pulled. Both of his inherited runners came around to score. Pepiot leaned on his fastball, throwing it for two thirds of his pitches, and didn’t seem to have the best feel of his slider as the Red Sox swung and missed at it just once.
