    • Perfect in sixth hold
Garrett struck out the side in a perfect seventh inning Sunday to record his sixth hold of the season in a loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: With the Mets holding a 4-3 lead, the right-hander was called in to the face the heart of Arizona's order and fanned Lourdes Gurriel, Christian Walker and Jake McCarthy on 11 pitches (nine strikes). Garrett has had some stumbles of late, getting tagged for earned runs in four of his last nine appearances with a 9.00 ERA and 2.00 WHIP over that stretch, but he's still part of the high-leverage mix and a candidate for saves in the absence of Edwin Diaz (shoulder). • Takes second loss
Hicks (4-2) allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits and struck out four without walking a batter over 5.1 innings, taking the loss versus the Yankees on Friday.

Advice: Aaron Judge did most of the damage against Hicks, taking him deep for a three-run home run in the third inning and a solo shot in the sixth. The five runs allowed were the most Hicks has given up in a start this season, though it was a positive to see him issue no walks for the fourth time in 12 outings. Homers are becoming a problem for the right-hander -- he's allowed five of them over his last four starts after giving up just one across his first eight outings. For the season, Hicks is at a strong 2.70 ERA with a 1.12 WHIP and 52:19 K:BB over 63.1 innings. He's projected to make his next start on the road in Arizona. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:34 pm

    • Jordan Hicks shaky over 5 1/3 against Yankees
Jordan Hicks gave up eight hits and five runs — four earned — in 5 1/3 innings while picking up a loss to the Giants on Friday.

Advice: When Hicks wasn’t pitching to Aaron Judge, things went ok. Unfortunately, he pitched to Aaron Judge a few times, and he gave up two homers to the mountain of a slugger. Hicks did give up eight hits in this contest, so it wasn’t just Aaron Judge, but Aaron Judge did most of the damage. This blurb is just an excuse to talk more about Aaron Judge. Hicks will still take a strong 2.70 ERA into a start against the Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks don’t have Aaron Judge. Rotoworld Friday, 9:57 pm

    • Nabs save Thursday
Garrett earned a save against the Diamondbacks on Thursday, walking one batter in a perfect inning.

Advice: Garrett walked the first batter he faced but managed to retire the next three Arizona hitters to nail down his third save. With Edwin Diaz (shoulder) on the injured list, Garrett appears to be the Mets' top option for ninth-inning work. The right-hander has notched New York's past two saves, though they came 11 days apart. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:19 pm
    • Reed Garrett procures save against Diamondbacks
Reed Garrett hurled a scoreless ninth to get a save Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Garrett has saved three games, and with Edwin Díaz out with a shoulder impingement, that number is likely to go up. Assuming New York wins games, of course. The right-hander did walk one batter, but he didn’t allow a hit and lowered his ERA to 2.54. If still available, Garrett is a nice stopgap closing option. Rotoworld Thursday, 6:57 pm
    • Braves place A.J. Minter on IL
Braves placed LHP A.J. Minter on the 15-day IL with left hip inflammation.

Advice: Minter struggled at the beginning of the month but is coming off five straight scoreless appearances to lower his season-long ERA to 2.95. There is no indication yet how long Minter will be sidelined, but the Braves will likely turn to Aaron Bummer as their main lefty out of the bullpen in the meantime. Righty Jimmy Herget was called up in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Thursday, 6:38 am

    • Out with hip injury
Atlanta placed Minter on the 15-day injured list Thursday with left hip inflammation.

Advice: Minter tossed a scoreless inning in Wednesday's win over the Nationals but evidently must have injured his hip during the appearance. The left-hander will be eligible to return from the IL on June 14, although it's not yet clear whether he will be ready for activation at that time. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:25 am

    • Officially placed on injured list
The Pirates placed Perez on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a left groin strain.

Advice: Perez injured his groin while covering first base during Sunday's start against Atlanta. He initially remained in the game before eventually being pulled. It's not clear at this point how long the southpaw might be sidelined. Quinn Priester will likely be recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to replace Perez in the Pirates rotation. • Martin Pérez officially heads to IL with groin injury
Pirates placed LHP Martin Pérez on the 15-day injured list with a left groin strain.

Advice: As expected, Pérez will miss at least two weeks while he deals with the groin injury that caused him to leave his start Sunday versus Atlanta. Pittsburgh didn’t add a pitcher as the corresponding transaction, but they’ll need to make a move to replace the southpaw in the rotation. Quinn Priester is likely that arm.
