Freeland (elbow) struck out four over four innings in his third rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A Albuquerque, giving up two earned runs on two hits and four walks.

Advice: Freeland tossed four innings of one-run ball in his first rehab outing with Albuquerque on June 13, but he wasn't quite as sharp in his second turn through the Triple-A rotation, spotting 42 of his 67 pitches for strikes while walking four of the 18 batters he faced. Though Freeland looks to be stretched out to close to a traditional starter's workload, the Rockies may want the left-hander to raise his pitch count a bit more and show improved control in one more outing with Albuquerque before bringing him back from the 60-day injured list. The Rockies already seem to be ruling out Freeland for a return this weekend; the team is listing Dakota Hudson, Cal Quantrill and Austin Gomber as its starters for the series with the Nationals that runs Friday through Sunday, according to Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com. Gallen (hamstring) is scheduled to throw another simulated game early next week and could be reinstated from the 15-day injured list shortly thereafter, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: After tossing 31- and 37-pitch bullpen sessions last week, Gallen advanced to facing hitters in a simulated game Tuesday. Gallen's strained right hamstring apparently responded well to the workout, but the Diamondbacks will still have him toss another sim game during the upcoming week before signing off on his return to the rotation. Gasser is mulling whether to have surgery on his left elbow after a third opinion concurred with the second that an operation is likely needed at some point, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Gasser is dealing with UCL damage in the elbow and the Brewers are leaving the decision of surgery or rest and rehab up to the left-hander. He's been shut down from throwing for nearly three weeks already, so Gasser is facing a lengthy ramp-up even if he opts for the non-surgical route. Corbin came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Diamondbacks, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: The veteran lefty established a new season high in strikeouts despite tossing only 53 of 90 pitches for strikes, but Corbin left the mound with the Nats in a 1-0 hole before they took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning. He's given up three earned runs or less in four of his last five starts, and while his 4.23 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 23:11 K:BB through 27.2 innings over that stretch aren't particularly impressive, they represent a big improvement on his season-long numbers. Kershaw (shoulder) completed three innings in a rehab start with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out five batters.

Advice: Kershaw impressed in his first game action since undergoing offseason shoulder surgery, throwing 26 of his 36 pitches for strikes and hitting 90 mph -- right around his regular-season velocity -- on his fastball. The veteran left-hander began a bit shakily in giving up a one-out first-inning triple that was cashed in on a sacrifice fly, but Kershaw was in complete control thereafter, with his only walk coming on a pitch-clock violation that appeared to be intentional in order to allow him to face another batter.
