• Falters in San Francisco
Bednar (1-2) took the loss Friday against the Giants after he allowed three runs on two hits and a walk without recording an out.

Advice: Pirates manager Derek Shelton turned to his closer in the bottom of the ninth of a scoreless tie, but Bednar gave up a walk and a single before serving up a walk-off, three-run homer to Patrick Bailey. Bednar entered the contest with three straight scoreless appearances, but he has now allowed at least three runs in three separate outings and has a 12.00 ERA across nine innings overall. The right-hander is 4-for-7 in save opportunities and has seen his job security decline significantly after beginning the campaign as one of the top closers in MLB with 58 saves and a 2.27 ERA in the previous two seasons. • Launches walk-off homer
Bailey went 1-for-4 with a walk-off, three run home run in Friday's 3-0 win against the Pirates.

Advice: The Giants mustered just four singles through eight innings Friday, but Bailey broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the ninth with a 378-foot shot over the wall in right field. The 24-year-old backstop hit just seven homers in 97 games as a rookie last season, but he's well on his way to eclipsing that in 2024 with three long balls through 20 contests. Bailey has been a key offensive piece for San Francisco early in the season with a .297/.365/.516 slash line, five doubles and 10 RBI in addition to the homers. Rotowire.com Today, 1:34 am
  • Homers in Friday's loss
Mullins went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Mullins took Ross Stripling deep in the fourth inning to give the Orioles a 2-1 lead. Prior to Friday, Mullins had gone 0-for-11 with two walks and a stolen base over his last three games. The veteran outfielder is slashing .232/.286/.476 with six homers, 16 RBI, five steals, 16 runs scored and two doubles through 91 plate appearances. He continues to see the majority of the playing time in center field, though it's unclear if his playing time is in any danger following the recent call-ups of Heston Kjerstad and Ryna McKenna. If Mullins struggles, he could cede some at-bats versus southpaws to players like McKenna or Jorge Mateo. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:55 pm
  • Takes loss Friday
Webb (0-1) allowed an unearned run on one hit and struck out one without walking a batter over one inning to take the extra-inning loss Friday versus the Athletics.

Advice: Webb allowed the initial runner to score on a Brent Rooker double in the top of the 10th inning, and the Orioles were unable to come back from that. After opening the campaign with a 6.1-inning scoreless streak, Webb has been charged with four runs (three earned) over his last 5.1 innings. The right-hander still has a solid 2.31 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 13:3 K:BB and one hold through 12.2 innings over 14 appearances. He's not likely to be a regular in the late-inning mix, but it's a role he can fill when the Orioles' bullpen is thin. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:52 pm

  • Marcus Semien homers in eighth to lead Rangers
Marcus Semien hit his fifth homer Friday as the Rangers bested the Reds 2-1.

Advice: Semien nearly had two homers, but his 410-foot drive to center in the fifth, which Statcast said would have been gone in 18 parks, was caught at the wall. The actual homer was hit 392 feet and broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth. It gave hm 19 runs scored and 20 RBI in 27 games, even though it doesn’t seem like either he or the Rangers offense as a whole has really caught fire yet. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:22 pm
  • Nathan Eovaldi doesn’t let walks get him down
Despite walking five, Nathan Eovaldi allowed just one run over six innings Friday against the Reds.

Advice: All three hits Eovaldi allowed were singles, and he struck out eight. Eovaldi wasn’t involved in the decision, so he remains 1-2 with a 3.00 ERA through six starts. He’s due to face the Nationals next. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:22 pm
  • David Bednar struggles again, allows walk-off HR
David Bednar didn’t record an out while giving up a three-run homer and picking up a loss to the Giants on Friday.

Advice: Oof. Bednar walked Michael Conforto to open the ninth, and after walking Matt Chapman, the 29-year-old gave up a three-run homer to Patrick Bailey to turn a 0-0 game into a 3-0 win for the Giants. This is already the third appearance of the year where Bednar has allowed three or more runs, and that helps explain why his ERA is now 12.00. There’s lots of reasons to expect Bednar to bounce back in the summer months, but fantasy managers have the right to be frustrated with how he’s pitched in April. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:51 pm
  • Patrick Bailey hits walk-off homer against Pirates
Patrick Bailey hit a walk-off three-run homer to give the Giants a 3-0 win Friday over the Pirates.

Advice: After being held scoreless for eight frames, Bailey was ready to go home with a three-run blast off David Bednar in the bottom of the ninth to give the Giants the win. The second-year backstop has swung the bat well thus far in 2024, as he’s up to three homers, a .297 average and an OPS of .880. Bailey faltered after a hot start in 2023, but the 24-year-old deserves attention — especially as a player doing this at catcher. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:51 pm
  • Kyle Harrison holds Pirates off board over six
Kyle Harrison blanked the Pirates over six innings Friday with seven strikeouts, but didn’t qualify for a decision.

Advice: Harrison gets a hard-luck no-decision because the Giants were unable to score a run while he was in the contest. The southpaw didn’t walk anyone while scattering five hits in one of his best starts an MLB hurler. Harrison will have some ups-and-downs as a 22-year-old in his first full season of action, but there’s a chance for the ups to outweigh those downs. He’ll look to build on this against the Red Sox on Wednesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:51 pm
