    • Mariners still await results of Andrés Muñoz’ MRI
The Mariners are still awaiting the results of the MRI exam on the injured back of right-hander Andrés Muñoz.

Advice: The Mariners have yet to make a roster move prior to Wednesday’s game against the Athletics and Muñoz was with the rest of the M’s relievers in the bullpen during warmups, though he did not throw. If a save situation should arise while Muñoz is sidelined, Ryne Stanek looks like the most likely candidate to fill that role. Rotoworld Today, 4:58 pm

    • William Contreras posts two hits, doubles in loss
William Contreras went 2-for-3 with a double on Wednesday in the Brewers’ shutout loss at the hands of the Phillies.

Advice: There weren’t a ton of bright spots here for Milwaukee as Contreras supplied two of their three total hits, and lone extra-base hit of the contest, as Phillies starter Aaron Nola and a pair of relievers combined on a three-hit shutout. Rotoworld Today, 4:52 pm
    • Royals-Guardians postponed
Singer and the Royals won't play the Guardians on Wednesday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Cleveland.

Advice: The Royals and Guardians will make up the postponed game as part of a split doubleheader Aug. 26 After missing his previous turn through the rotation last Thursday due to an illness, Singer was cleared to start Wednesday, but he looks like he'll have to wait until Thursday's series finale with the Guardians to make his return to the rotation. • Scratched due to knee issue
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Marte was scratched from the lineup prior to Wednesday's game in Washington due to a right knee issue, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Though he played all nine innings of Tuesday's 6-3 win while going 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, two runs and two RBI, Marte informed the Mets on Wednesday that his knee was bothering him at points during the previous night's game. The Mets elected to scratch Marte from the lineup for the series finale as a matter of precaution, but Mendoza said that he has a low level of concern for the outfielder's injury. Marte will still be available off the bench Wednesday, and with off days Thursday and Friday, the expectation is that he'll be back in the lineup Saturday for the start of the Mets' two-game series in London versus the Phillies. • Scratched from Wednesday's lineup
Marte was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals for an unspecified reason.

Advice: The Mets haven't provided an immediate explanation for why Marte was removed from the starting nine, but the team should offer an update later Wednesday. Tyrone Taylor will enter the lineup as a replacement for Marte, who had started in both of the first two games of the series in Washington while going 4-for-8 with a triple, a walk, a stolen base, four runs and two RBI. • Getting breather Wednesday
Walker is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Walker is resting for just the second time of the season, with his first day off coming all the way back on April 21. Pavin Smith will start at first base for the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Rotowire.com Today, 10:13 am
    • Dealing with back injury
Munoz has been dealing with a lower-back injury over the past few weeks and aggravated the injury during his collision with Oakland's Max Schuemann in Tuesday's 4-3 win, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. He recorded two outs and was charged with one earned run on two hits en route to collecting his fourth hold of the season.

Advice: The initial concern following Munoz's removal from Tuesday's game was with his right ankle/leg, which seemed to get pinned underneath Schuemann, but the issue now appears to be linked to the closer's ongoing back problem. Manager Scott Servais said Munoz will head in for an MRI on Wednesday to determine the severity of his latest flareup, at which point the Mariners will likely make a decision on whether or not the 25-year-old righty will require a trip to the injured list. Should Munoz have to miss time, Ryne Stanek would likely be the next man up for saves. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:04 pm
