    • Going through concussion protocol
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Mateo is going through the concussion protocol after exiting Sunday's game versus the Rays, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Mateo was struck in the head by the bat of teammate Cedric Mullins around the on-deck circle and was subsequently removed from the contest. It remains to be seen if Mateo will miss additional time, and he should be considered day-to-day as he continues to be evaluated. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago

    • Jorge Mateo placed in concussion protocol Sunday
Orioles’ manager Brandon Hyde told reporters after Sunday’s game that Jorge Mateo is in the concussion protocol.

Advice: The 28-year-old was hit in the head by Cedric Mullins’ bat in the on-deck circle during Sunday’s contest against the Rays. He’ll have to pass through the concussion protocol before he’s able to return to game action. That’s probably going to cost him at least a couple of days, and it’s possible that he winds up on the 7-day concussion injured list. Rotoworld 42 minutes ago

    • Charlie Morton effective but wild in no-decision
Charlie Morton held the Athletics scoreless over six innings on Sunday. He allowed just one hit along with five walks and six strikeouts in a no-decision.

Advice: Poor command pushed Morton’s pitch count up in what was otherwise a fantastic outing. This was the sixth straight start in which Morton decreased the usage of his fastball and Sunday marked a season-low at 15%. In turn, he turned to more changeups which the Athletics couldn’t square up, but Morton also struggled to find the zone with it at times. Still, the 40-year-old continues to prove he’s a viable starter. Rotoworld 54 minutes ago

    • Brendan Donovan (neck) remains out vs. Phillies
Brendan Donovan is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Phillies.

Advice: Donovan will miss another game after being scratched from Friday’s lineup with stiffness in his neck. Masyn Winn remains in the leadoff spot, and Alec Burleson gets the start in left field. Rotoworld Today, 12:56 pm

Jorge Mateo left Sunday’s game against the Rays with an apparent head injury.

Advice: Mateo appeared to be hit in the head when he was struck in the head accidentally by Cedric Mullins in the on-deck circle. Ramon Urias pinch-hit for him after. There should be an update on Mateo’s status by the end of the game. Rotoworld Today, 11:49 am

    • Departs with head injury
Mateo was removed from Sunday's game against the Rays with an apparent head injury, Melanie Newman of MASN reports.

Advice: The 28-year-old appeared to be struck in the head by a bat around the on-deck circle during the fourth inning and was replaced by a pinch hitter shortly thereafter. He singled in his lone plate appearance before exiting the contest. The specifics of the injury are unclear, but Mateo is likely being evaluated for a concussion. Rotowire.com Today, 11:42 am

    • Out Sunday with finger injury
Vaughn (finger) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Advice: Vaughn will be on the bench for a third game in a row with a sprained left ring finger. The White Sox continue to view Vaughn as day-to-day, and with a team off day Monday, Vaughn could be ready to go for the start of the team's two-game series with the Cubs on Tuesday. Gavin Sheets will fill in at first base for Vaughn on Sunday. Rotowire.com Today, 11:16 am

    • Reclaiming playing time at first base
Soderstrom will start at first base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Soderstrom has now started in three of Oakland's last four matchups with right-handed pitchers and appears to have displaced J.D. Davis as the Athletics' preferred option at the position. Soderstrom is still likely to occupy the strong side of a platoon at first base with either Davis or Aledmys Diaz.
