    • Rehab assignment approaching
Manager Craig Counsell said Saturday that Steele (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Counsell didn't say how many starts the Cubs want Steele to make in the minors, but the 28-year-old southpaw is likely in for multiple rehab outings after sitting out roughly a month due to a strained left hamstring. Assuming his assignment goes smoothly, Steele will likely return to Chicago's rotation toward the middle of May. Rotowire.com Today, 12:17 pm

    • Justin Steele set to make rehab start this week
Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters Saturday that Justin Steele (hamstring) will make a minor league rehab start this week.

Advice: Steele continues to progress towards rejoining Chicago’s starting rotation after landing on the injured list back in late March with a left hamstring strain. The 28-year-old southpaw should be ready to return in early-to-mid May. Rotoworld Today, 11:55 am

    • Goes seven innings in second win
Stone (2-1) earned the win Friday against the Blue Jays, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Stone was impressive Friday, holding Toronto to one run on Danny Jansen's fourth-inning homer while the Dodgers' offense provided plenty of support in an eventual 12-2 victory. The 25-year-old right-hander has held opponents to two runs or fewer in each of his last three outings, lowering his ERA to 4.68 with a 1.44 WHIP and 18:12 K:BB across five starts (25 innings) this season. Stone's currently slated for a tough home matchup versus Atlanta in his next outing. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:13 pm

    • Gavin Stone strong for seven in downing Jays
Gavin Stone limited the Blue Jays to one run and two hits over seven innings in the Dodgers’ 12-2 rout Friday.

Advice: Stone got just two strikeouts and four missed swings tonight, but he did a nice job of keeping the ball on the ground while picking up his second win and quality start in five tries this year. He’ll take a 4.68 ERA into a tough matchup against the Braves next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:56 pm

    • Notches first win of season
Wood (1-2) earned the win over the Yankees on Thursday, allowing one run on eight hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Wood allowed plenty of traffic on the basepaths, but the only run that crossed the plate against him came on a second-inning Jose Trevino solo homer. This was by far the left-hander's best outing in an A's uniform -- he came into the contest holding a 7.89 ERA and 2.03 WHIP while failing to go five innings in three of his five starts. One strong start isn't going to wipe away Wood's poor overall body of work on the campaign, but it at least helped him get into the win column for the first time and provided hope that he could yet turn things around. • Another strong start
Castill0 (2-4) picked up the win Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over six innings against the Rangers. He struck out six.

Advice: Castillo had issues keeping the ball inside the park Thursday, allowing solo home runs to Nathaniel Lowe and Josh Smith in the first and fourth innings, respectively. He's now allowed a long ball in four of his six outings this season but has churned out three straight quality starts. During that stretch, Castillo owns a 1.89 ERA and a 24:3 K:BB across 19 innings. • Alex Wood goes 5 2/3 innings to beat Yankees
Alex Wood allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a win over the Yankees.

Advice: Wood was tagged for eight hits, but a second-inning solo shot from Jose Trevino represented the lone tally against him in this one. He struck out five and only issued two walks. He’ll carry an underwhelming 6.59 ERA, 1.98 WHIP and 25/13 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings (six starts) into a home outing on Tuesday against the Pirates. Rotoworld Thursday, 6:38 pm

    • Luis Castillo hurls six strong in victory over TEX
Luis Castillo struck out six while throwing six innings of two-run baseball to pick up a win over the Rangers on Thursday.

Advice: Castillo gave up four hits, and he walked two. There some traffic against the 31-year-old early, but he was able to keep runners at bay in another strong outing. Both runs came on solo blasts; one in the first by Nathaniel Lowe and another in the fourth by Josh Smith. After struggling in his first three starts, Castillo has allowed four earned runs total in his last three outings, and looks like the pitcher that fantasy managers were hoping to see. He’ll hope to keep it going against Atlanta next week. Rotoworld Thursday, 1:59 pm

    • Throws bullpen session
Urquidy (forearm) threw a bullpen session Monday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The session marked Urquidy's first time pitching from a mound since mid-March. The team is hoping to get him back in May, though he'll likely need a fairly lengthy ramp-up process. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:13 pm
