    • Tosses seven scoreless frames
Morton allowed four hits and one walk while striking out six batters over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision against Cleveland on Saturday.

Advice: Morton and Cleveland starter Tanner Bibee both hurled seven scoreless frames in the contest, subjecting both pitchers to a no-decision despite their impressive individual efforts. Morton notched his second straight quality start, and he appears to be coming back around after allowing 10 runs over 11.1 frames across a pair of outings April 8 and April 14. The veteran right-hander continues rolling along as an effective rotation piece in his 17th MLB season -- through five starts, he's posting a 3.60 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 28:11 K:BB over 30 innings. • Charlie Morton gets hard-luck no-decision vs. CLE
Charlie Morton didn’t allow a run in seven innings of work with eight strikeouts, but still didn’t qualify for a decision during his start Saturday against the Guardians.

Advice: He allowed four hits with one walk. Morton was outstanding, but unfortunately, Tanner Bibee was just as good and blanked the Atlanta lineup while both were in the game. Morton has looked much better over his last two starts, as he’s allowed just two runs — both last Saturday against the Rangers — while striking out a dozen over 13 innings of work. The 40-year-old hurler will take a 3.60 ERA into his start against the Dodgers on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:18 pm

    • Alex Verdugo drives in four in blowout victory
Alex Verdugo went 3-for-5 with a homer and four RBI in a blowout win over the Brewers on Saturday.

Advice: Verdugo got the Yankees off to a great start in the first inning with a three-run blast off Joe Ross to make the score 3-0. The 27-year-old has shown some early pop in 2024 with four homers and .463 slugging percentage through the first 28 contests. It’s very possible that the former top prospect puts together a breakout season in 2024, even if it’s hard to bet on it. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:13 pm

    • Logs fourth steal
Mateo went 0-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 7-0 win over the Athletics.

Advice: Mateo has seen limited playing time this season, though he could get more looks after Jackson Holliday was sent down to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday. Through 35 plate appearances, Mateo is slashing .250/.314/.406 with four steals, one RBI, five runs scored and five doubles. He's unlikely to take a full-time role from Jordan Westburg, Ramon Urias or Cedric Mullins, but Mateo offers utility value and speed while playing primarily versus left-handed pitchers. • Steals eighth bag
Betts went 3-for-5 with a triple, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: The 31-year-old extended his current hitting streak to seven games with his fourth straight multi-hit performance, and he also swiped a bag for the third straight contest. Betts is having a monster start to the season, slashing .391/.489/.661 through 115 plate appearances with six homers, eight steals, 23 RBI and 29 runs, and while it's early, he's firmly on pace for the second 30-30 campaign of his career. • Mookie Betts collects three hits against Blue Jays
Mookie Betts went 3-for-5 with a triple, a run scored, an RBI, and a stolen base on Saturday to lead the Dodgers to a 4-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Betts opened the game with a triple off Yusei Kikuchi and scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly. He later drove in a run with a base hit in the fourth. Betts added a single in the ninth and stole second for his eighth steal of the season. The 31-year-old star is slashing an incredible .391/.489/.661 with six homers, 29 runs scored, and 23 RBI across 137 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:05 pm

    • Back at first base Saturday
Abreu is starting at first base and batting eighth in Saturday's contest against the Rockies in Mexico City.

Advice: Abreu has ceded the starting first base job to Jon Singleton as of late, with the former going 1-for-21 over his last seven games. Abreu will hope to turn around his poor start to the season Saturday against Rockies right-hander Cal Quantrill. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:24 pm

    • Rehab assignment approaching
Manager Craig Counsell said Saturday that Steele (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Counsell didn't say how many starts the Cubs want Steele to make in the minors, but the 28-year-old southpaw is likely in for multiple rehab outings after sitting out roughly a month due to a strained left hamstring. Assuming his assignment goes smoothly, Steele will likely return to Chicago's rotation toward the middle of May. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:17 pm

    • Justin Steele set to make rehab start this week
Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters Saturday that Justin Steele (hamstring) will make a minor league rehab start this week.

Advice: Steele continues to progress towards rejoining Chicago’s starting rotation after landing on the injured list back in late March with a left hamstring strain. The 28-year-old southpaw should be ready to return in early-to-mid May. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:55 am
