    • Paul Goldschmidt strikes out four times in return
Paul Goldschmidt went 1-for-5 with four strikeouts on Saturday in the Cardinals’ loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Yikes. Goldschmidt was unable to really get anything going in his return to St. Louis’ lineup after receiving a couple days off to mentally reset and work on his swing. The 36-year-old veteran first baseman, who was the National League’s MVP Award winner just two seasons ago, is off to the worst start of his career, batting .190 (27-for-142) with two homers, 11 RBI and one steal through 37 contests. Perhaps the most alarming aspect of his early-season decline is that he’s striking out at a career-worst 31.7 percent clip so far. Simply put, it’s not what you want. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago

    • Nick Lodolo serves up grand slam in loss to Giants
Nick Lodolo surrendered four runs over six innings on Saturday in a loss to the Giants.

Advice: Astonishingly, all of the damage against Lodolo came in the opening frame when the Giants struck for four runs, courtesy of a two-out grand slam from Matt Chapman, following a pair of hits and a walk. The 26-year-old southpaw settled in afterwards, keeping San Francisco off the scoreboard over his final five frames of work, but it wasn’t enough to take him off the hook for a loss. He finished with six strikeouts and only issued one walk, generating 13 swinging strikes and finishing with a respectable 33 percent CSW. He’ll bring a solid 3.34 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 43/9 K/BB ratio a cross 35 innings (six starts) into a tough road tilt on Thursday against a loaded Dodgers lineup. Rotoworld Today, 3:16 am
    • Mike Clevinger settles for no-decision vs. Guardians
Mike Clevinger gave up one run over 4 2/3 innings on Saturday in a no-decision against the Guardians.

Advice: Clevinger struck out five and limited Cleveland’s offense to just a fourth-inning solo shot by Josh Naylor. He was lifted after just 73 pitches (52 strikes) before qualifying for a win. The 33-year-old righty can be safely ignored for fantasy purposes when he brings an inflated 5.40 ERA, 2.10 WHIP and 5/4 K/BB ratio across 6 2/3 innings (two starts) into a challenging road tilt against the Yankees. • Shows improvement in second start
Clevinger allowed one run on four hits and no walks while striking out five batters over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against Cleveland on Saturday.

Advice: Clevinger struggled mightily in his season debut Monday, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits and four walks over two innings. The veteran looked much better Saturday, yielding just a fourth-inning run while cutting the free passes entirely out of his stat line. Clevinger needed just one more out to qualify for the win, but he was pulled for a lefty reliever after giving up a single to the final batter he faced in the fifth frame. Despite that minor disappointment, this was a promising outing considering his disastrous previous start, and it should help him as he works to push up his pitch count after missing spring training and signing with Chicago in early April. • Racks up three hits
Nootbaar went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Nootbaar was one of five Cardinals with multiple hits in the contest, but it still wasn't enough to break the team out of its skid. The outfielder has gone 8-for-35 (.229) in May, adding four RBI and three extra-base hits in that span. He's still struggling overall with a .198/.294/.354 slash line through 110 plate appearances. Nootbaar has added three home runs, two stolen bases, 11 RBI and eight runs scored, and he appears to have a near-everyday role in the outfield since most of the rest of the Cardinals aren't hitting much better than he is. • Gives up grand slam in loss
Lodolo (3-2) took the loss Saturday versus the Giants, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six over six innings.

Advice: His line is deceptive -- Lodolo permitted all four runs in the first inning on a Matt Chapman grand slam. He also gave up two hits in the fourth, but Lodolo escaped that rough patch with no further damage. The southpaw started the season with just five runs allowed over his first four starts, but he's been tagged for four runs in each of his last two outings. He's now at a 3.34 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 43:9 K:BB through 35 innings over six starts this season. Lodolo will look to get back on track in his next start, tentatively scheduled to be on the road versus the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:53 pm
    • Starting Sunday in Pittsburgh
Hendricks (back) will rejoin the Cubs' rotation Sunday in Pittsburgh, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Hendricks had been slated to make one more rehab start, but Jameson Taillon (back) isn't quite ready to start Sunday, so Hendricks will take the ball that day for the big club instead. The veteran hurler has been sidelined for the last three weeks with a lower-back strain but pitched well in two rehab outings, allowing three runs with a 13:3 K:BB in 9.1 frames. Hendricks held a woeful 12.00 ERA in five starts before getting injured, so fantasy mangers certainly need to see something positive before entrusting the righty. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:58 pm

    • Kyle Hendricks (back) set to start for Cubs Sunday
Kyle Hendricks (back) will be activated from the injured list to start for the Cubs on Sunday afternoon against the Pirates.

Advice: Hendricks will take the ball in place of Jameson Taillon, who is dealing with a minor back issue. The soft-tossing right-hander has really struggled through his first five starts on the season, registering a 12.00 ERA, 2.10 WHIP and a 16/7 K/BB ratio over 21 innings. It’s a decent matchup, but those looking for streaming options in fantasy leagues should steer clear. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:38 pm

    • Plates four runs
Stott went 2-for-5 with four RBI in Saturday's 8-3 victory over the Marlins.

Advice: Stott's bases-clearing triple in the sixth inning put the Phillies ahead for what turned out to be for good. He also added an RBI single in the eighth. It's the second four-RBI game for Stott over his last 10 contests, and he's batting .375 with a couple homers and 13 RBI over that span. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:34 pm
